It is precisely because sports watches - divers or otherwise - are more likely to be used and abused that the excellent original examples are harder to locate, command a significant premium over average examples and should be sought after. I would argue that condition is even more important for these watches.

Absolutely agree with you Mike.

For that exact reason, specifically with those two examples, I would chose the SM over the Connie... but only for this example if we had to make a choice, one or the other of those two examples. That SM is in relatively good condition considering how hard it is to find one with that "character"!

Otherwise, and if it is superior condition I am looking for and have the cash to acquire one, I would definitely wait for that "special one" to come by....

I will admit to it, even though it violates my superstition about not speaking about a purchase until it is in my hands.

Congratulations and I am sorry about the violation.

Thank-you.

Congrats Lou. Glad to see it has stayed within the forum. It added a few miles on the clock however ;-)

Precisely, Omega sports watches of the 60's and 70's were bought to be used, abused and harshly treated, unlike the fortunate Patek Philippe Aquanaut or the Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea, of today. Both the PP and Rolex heavy-duty watches are now bought, to be loved and pampered, totally removed from the duty they were supposed to perform.

Excellent original examples of the Seamasters 300 and 120 are rarely seen and should one appear, surely it will command a premium.

Once in a long while, we do come across a NOS Omega dress watch but a NOS Omega sports watch never, so far.

Thank-you.

Ones with 'character' appear once in a while, just like this one. However, your 'special one' in superior condition must be in hiding and when it shows up, be quick since I am sure there are others, who are half as knowledgeable as you, are waiting to grab it, also.

Thank-you.
