There's nothing shown that would be outside of the ordinary replacement parts. This should have cost you what a standard service costs.

You should have received an itemized breakdown of the costs, so post that if you can.
No itemised list..... But ill request one

8 years without a service..will give it few more months and will probably send it to Swatch Group for a check up, although everything works great.

Doesn't look like an Omega invoice.
And why the charge for a mainspring and another for a barrel (x2?)?

I suspect it went to an AD who added some additional overhead.

Did this go to Omega, and what is the currency?

I think it's Aussie dollars Al.

Thanks for reminding me, I need to wear my 3313 more often, as I got mine just when the second Gen came out.

Unless Omega has changed their documentation, this is what you should receive from a Service Centre.
Note: Not all of the boutiques and dealers listed on the Omega website are actual "Service Centres" where the watch is actually serviced.

My 2nd gen Titanium PO which has the 8500 has had zero issues so far and still runs 1-2spd. It's one of my most accurate pieces.

Just like mine.

Thanks Jim, I know the watch was sent from Perth top Brisbane for the service. I am not quite sure how it all works? I gather the watch repairer must have an Omega account to access parts?

I know the warranty period increased from 4 years to 5 years after I purchased the watch in 2017, and I was outside the 4 year period...

The Australian Omega (Swatch) service centre is in Glen Iris (Melbourne), so if it didn't go there it wasn't serviced by Omega and probably why the cost difference.

Maybe the store you took it to has an arrangement with a watchmaker with an Omega parts account in Brissy.

Not quite sure what to make of it all really, my assumption was that the watch would naturally be sent to the Omega service centre, given the retailer is a "service centre"
Feel like someone has dipped their hand into my pocket. Ill definitely ask more pertinent questions in the future about who is doing the service.......

It appears that this is a new thing - calling independent watchmakers with parts accounts "service centers" and in my view that is misleading and a mistake on Omega's part. I would ask the shop one last question - is their a warranty on the work, and if so is that warranty with the shop, or with Omega?

To me, what sets apart an official Omega service center is that they perform warranty work on behalf of Omega, and provide an Omega warranty. This means that the watch can be turned in for a warranty repair to any Omega service center that is actually run by Omega if something goes wrong within the normal 2 year warranty period. In this case, I suspect you don't have an Omega warranty, you have the shop's warranty.

So on the mainspring and barrel...

There are two mainspring barrels in this watch, so it's possible that it could need both a mainspring and a complete barrel. However, even with taking Aussie dollars and possible market differences in pricing into account, both are very expensive compared to the prices I see. If I convert the cost of the prices I see for these items to Australian, the mainspring is about $49 Australian, and the mainspring barrel complete would be around $191 Australian. So on the second one in particular, they have marked it up by approx. 100%

Cheers, Al

There are two in Brisbane that have parts accounts and complete facilities for servicing Co-Axial Omegas, one is a small independent with two branches that mainly deals in high end vintage, the other is Wallace Bishop / Hardy Brothers, which I’m guessing is who you dealt with. They do have fairly extensive facilities and I can imagine them being a bit pricey as I’ve been there and chatted with their watchmakers.

"a bit pricey" - understatement of the month so far I'd say. 😉

Everything tends to be overpriced in Australia so it doesn’t overly surprise me

Had Tag in Australia service a watch for $650

Jewellery store that sold Tag watches tried to charge a $200 fee for the pleasure of me going through them to send watch. ( even after charging me $25 to cover postage to Service Centre in Sydney on hand over )
Refused to pay the $200 handling fee.
Advised I knew it was only $650 for service due to contact with Tag.
The Bluff worked as $200 fee was waived.

Now know someone that used to work for above jewellery company and 99% just pay the $200 fee not knowing and think it is part of the actual service.
