·Oh, and @ChicagoFrog - That is beautiful. Congratulations!
Their turnaround is amazing, and their work is top notch.
Have you had a 321 serviced through them? If so, do you mind if I ask the cost?
I've had a 321 serviced by Nesbitt's about a year ago and I wouldn't recommend them for vintage. They do have a nice operation and are a very friendly couple but if I were to use them again it would only be for modern watches. The cost was a little bit over $1400 and in order for them to do the work they had to replace the vintage hands with new Superluminova hands. I can't remember if they replaced the crown or not but they did return all the hardware that was exchanged. I've since sold that piece and when I removed the caseback to take pictures the movement didn't look clean. I'm not accusing them of not completing the service but it did have some inconsistencies that I haven't seen with other serviced movements.
$1400 for a service? Replaced hands? Movement not clean?? What?! 😲
Blimey. $800 would have covered all of that (with vintage correct hands, and crown) at Swiss Time Services in the UK. Even less at Simon Freese Watchmakers. He is in demand, but his vintage watch service prices start at around $400.
so I'm curious.. the "OMEGA Speedmaster" writing on the dial on the right looks much thinner than the dial on the left.. is there a reason for that? or is it just a photo illusion..?
