The first day after the Basel 2017 announced the Speedy 60th LE, I connected the OB immediately about the information. The salesman told me that I should buy the watch costed about 12 thousand US dollar, then I could be in the waiting list to have.

Of course, I give up the un-reasonable requirement, I changed to have some deposits on the AD. However, I still have no information about the delivery after a half year.
Unfortunately, from my conversations, it appears as if no one knows until its delivered to the AD. Hopefully, you will receive a call soon. I know it's frustrating when you see these photos and you still don't have yours. Each time I thought I was going to call my AD and cancel, I had to remind and ask myself: "Will I ever have this opportunity again to acquire a Speedy that will fit my wrist?"

As an FYI, this is the first time I have ever ordered a LE watch. So, perhaps, my expectations were unreasonable. IMHO, this experience should have been filled with enjoyment and excitement since this is my first Omega. Perhaps, there should also be some anxiety since we are not fortunate to have seen it in the flesh before ordering. But, unfortunately, I found my initial experience highly frustrating. Now, realistically, if I pulled my deposit, Omega wouldn't care. They would just go down the list. So, I don't expect any changes from Omega.
Agree 100%...This reflects my feelings and opinion. This was supposed to be a very special event for me, and it turned out the exact opposite. I was lucky to get a ceramic Daytona, and that was a really great experience.
It has also chased me away from Omega. I was thinking about similar issues with Rolex and the Daytona/Sea dweller/Sky dweller...but its different. One can see on social media when people get their watches, and while its difficult to get one, you can still think that someone is getting one, so I have a chance. With these models, it was like a black hole of information. This really is shocking performance from a luxury global brand, but as you say, they will not care because there are so many buyers out there.

Were you quoted an early delivery date? If so, that was wrong of your AD, as everyone knew there was going to be a wait before we saw these available for delivery.

I was told right from the very start, when I placed my order at the end of April, that delivery was going to be August at earliest, but most likely September or October realistically. I knew that there was going to be a wait before I would see the watch, but I was happy to accept it.

Yes, it was a little frustrating to see the Seamaster and Railmaster models being made available first, but when I got the call at the end of September and went to the AD, it was totally worth the exactly 5 month wait. You couldn't wipe the smile off my face for at least the following 2-3 weeks! And it still makes me feel so chuffed every time I look at it now.

I too hope you do not regret your decision . . .
I was quoted delivery dates commencing end July, then August, then Sept, etc. After having calmed down a bit, I am already regretting it, but what to do, its too late now. 😀 Ah well, its a first world problem, so no big deal!

Did you order the DaytonaC at launch? If not, then I'm not sure you are comparing apples to apples. There certainly was a delay until the first Speedmasters became available, but since there has been a steady stream of social media posts as people get their watches.

I could imagine the frustration of the first-time buyer. But for those of us who have a long-established relationship with our Omega AD's, it's quite easy to get any limited edition (as long as you inform them ahead of time, that is). It's like a preferred customer thing. Hopefully, your order arrives soon. I'm sure it will be worth the wait as I don't think any modern Rolex could match any piece of the Trilogy in terms of beauty.

I'm in shock! I just received the call I've been waiting for - my Trilogy Speedmaster had arrived! I'm on my way now . . .

Lucky you did not order an ST! Some of us may not get ours this year!! That's 12 months.

A little rant:

I would have to strongly disagree with this statement. On the Omega pamphlet below, you see June delivery:

Hi Mark,

First and most importantly, congratulations on (finally) getting your watch! Despite your 'little rant' I hope it is giving you great pleasure, now that you have it.

It is a good thing I had not seen that flyer - otherwise I too would have been having a rant myself! It just seemed over optimistic to have declared such an early delivery date, and that ad must certainly have caused much annoyance amongst some who placed their orders based on that date.

On the point of the 'period of darkness' - I did suffer the same too, from the Omega Boutique in London, who I initially called and asked to be added to their wait list. Granted they did not want to take a deposit, but I had to call them twice to get any information on the progress of deliveries - which they were not able to enlighten me at all anyway.

I am glad I did eventually turn to my local AD, who did insist on a substantial deposit, but in return did absolutely guarantee me a watch about 2 weeks later, after they obtained firm confirmation they would be getting at least one of the two Speedmaster 60th they had placed orders for. And being local I went in several times, to see them and chat about watches in general.

And yes, it was the also the first and probably only time I will have pre-ordered an expensive LE watch. Why? Not because of the wait, but because it was/is my 'grail' watch - at least the closest I am ever going to get to an actual CK2915, and I am perfectly and absolutely happy with it. I was excited with great expectation throughout the 5 month wait, and had such a huge buzz when it arrived and I went to collect it.

Please do not let your frustration spoil the experience of finally owning such an iconic and beautiful watch. Enjoy it.

??? Not sure how my reply got integrated into your quote!

It is good to see that you are philosophical about it! But you are so right about it being a total first world problem. It is too easy to lose sight of reality . . .

Good luck with whatever your next quest is.

Trust me, there's nothing but love for the watch itself. It's been my daily companion while working at my 'office' within my local coffee shop:😉

Yes, the first working day after Basel I went to all the ADs here and put my name down. I did get lucky, however, my point is that the watches came to market in a reasonable time whereas its taken 9 months for Omega to produce these. Its closer to Basel 2018 than 2017!

Why is it that some people claim it’s available in the Caribbean’s? I have the impression that there seem to be no demand there. If so - why have they been shipped ther in the first place?

There's no sales tax in the Caribbean, so for decades it's been pretty common practice for cruise ship passengers to disembark and buy watches, jewelry etc at discounted prices. Usually limited edition watches have enough demand that they're not sold in those retailers, but with 3,557 pieces it's possible a few Speedmasters have made their way down there

It is sad that maybe more than 50% of all posts (I did not count) of a limited edition watch topic are related to complaints about late delivery dates.

You can't use "limited edition watch" when they make 3000+ out there, c'mon... And we are not talking about a Dufour here, nor a brand new watch... it's an ordinary non decorated movement fitted in a piece of steal.

"Switzerland doesn't give up a heads-up. We only know when we get the shipment notice."
I called my OB yesterday, they gave me the exact same response, word to word 😁

Btw, any idea why the AD receive the watches before the OB? I would have expected the opposite 😕

I've seen a mixture of OBs and ADs so my guess is they are coming out in the order in which the orders were placed.

I am not sure why some are upset with the delivery time on the watch. I ordered mine back in March and, based on past purchases of Omega Speedmaster limited editions, knew the watch would take some time to arrive. You can't rush art. The fact that some were able to purchase or secure an order should be satisfying. Others were not so lucky.

These watches are sought after around the globe in the same manner as other collectibles. The watch is beautiful. I am glad to have received mine a few weeks ago. Not sure why some would say they are not 'limited editions' when they only made 3000+. In other words they are saying the watch is not rare. Really? Given the popularity among collectors and the number of major cities around the globe and the global population, I don't think you are going to see one on another person's wrist across the table from you unless you arrange that meeting. To all the individuals who are happy with their purchase like I am and waited it out patiently, I say congratulations. Those who have not received yours yet - it is worth the wait! You will not be disappointed.
