A watch for $ 7.250 is an absolute luxury item. It is "nice to have" and not "have to have". Most of us own many additinal expensive watches.
Hence, if you buy such a limited edition collector's watch, you are expected to be able to afford it without financing and loans etc. It becomes irrelevant if a deposit is requested or not.
I assume from this lengthy discussion here about deposits that there must be some speculators at work - in spite of the deposits...
(By the way, my OB refused a deposit which I had offered. They know me as their client).
C cfracingThe 100% deposit is an obstacle for them and I think they have just as much of a "right" (not the right word, but I couldn't think of a better one) to purchase this watch as the well-heeled collectors.
"Opportunity" might be the better word.
S solesmanAs stated in the Trilogy thread on here, I had the call for the Railmster this afternoon. I was No1 on the list but I declined it as I prefer my 36mm Railmaster. Also I'm No1 on list for the Seamaster 300. So they are in London now.
B blokkDo the ADs actually tell what position you are on the list? Some never divulge this information even when pressed.
Yes they do, I am number 1 on the list at my AD and they are only getting one Speedmaster so I'm afraid anyone else on that particular list will be disappointed unless they are on other lists as well.
C cfracingDoes your AD have a firm commitment from Omega that they will get a Speedmaster? Like you, I am first on the list at my AD but they have yet to get a firm commitment from Omega when, of even if, they will get one.
The longer I wait, the more certain I am that I really want a 60th Speedmaster (I am/was willing to have fate decide by if my AD actually received one or not) to the point I may actually pay the local OB the 100% deposit they are requiring assuming they have any allocation left.
In front of the OB Geneva airport. Looks like the sm300 has landed (they have one) as well as the rail master (1 sold already). Smells good...
Anyone else feeling like this?
