And they required 100% deposit in many cases. That's expensive to speculate on. These watches are mostly going to collectors who really want them, so I think we'll see a lot fewer available on the secondary market once they sell out.
I agree with this, at least personally. I'm buying this with no regard for future value...simply because as a lover of Speedmasters - and someone who can't afford $100K on a 2915 - this was too good to pass up. Don't expect to ever sell mine, so that's at least one out of the secondary market!

By all accounts it's 80-90% sold out, and very few people have even seen them yet. And they required 100% deposit in many cases. That's expensive to speculate on. These watches are mostly going to collectors who really want them, so I think we'll see a lot fewer available on the secondary market once they sell out. And I think them not being sold out isn't necessarily indicative of lower demand. I know a lot of people on here have said they want the watch but were uncomfortable with the deposit requirements. So, now that they're apparently starting to ship, I think we'll see that remaining stock sell quickly.

I think I'd take this with a rather large grain of salt. It's in Omega's best interest to convince everyone that the demand is sky high so people who are on the fence jump onboard with a deposit. Of course I'm also speculating here but I wouldn't be surprised if it were all smoke and mirrors and there are plenty available when it does officially release. I mean we're talking about a limited edition of 3557 pieces here, with an MSRP of $7200. It's easy to forget that for most people that is a lot of money. Not to mention the fact that it is competing in some way with the Railmaster and the Seamaster at 3557 pieces each, and the trilogy collection (557 pieces). And the Speedy Tuesday LE is out this year too. IMO it's just too many LEs to bring into the market at the same time for them all to sell out, even the Speedy.

Also something else to note... in the 5 years since the FOIS has been out, it's only gotten up into the 6-7000 range (MSRP $5,300 and readily available for <$4,000), and the blue/white CK2998 (limited to 2998 pieces) still hasn't sold out. Obviously those watches are not quite as special so I'm sort of comparing apples to oranges here, but still something to keep in mind.

I think you just need to fire off an email to your nearest Omega Boutique...in USA. Everyone seems to say they have availability. Even the Trio still seems obtainable. Have your credit card handy as a 20% downer seems de rigeuer!

But
Ummm so is this the real deal or just prototype weve all already seen?

For my own sanity, I'm choosing to believe it's one of the 3557.

I can't comment on the shag carpet / model train one but I'm sure the one posted in Paris and Italy are the real McCoy's!

Enjoy your weekend!

It's cruel to imply you have all three LE's! Unless you actually do. That hurts too somehow!

Put my full-deposit on the Speedy at an OB in the U.S. and they said there's less than 100 left. I'm assuming that means in their network and not the authorized dealers and such. Either way, I can officially join this thread 😀

Congrats! Now you're stuck waiting anxiously with the rest of us 😀

Also if that less than 100 number is true, that's pretty impressive for the kinds of deposits they're expecting on a rather large LE that almost no one has seen in person yet. I assume that would indicate that there is just a pool of available watches that any OB in a region can pull from, and that AD allocations probably just count in the system as sold watches.

Omega Boutique told me that all of the US boutiques draw from common supply and that there were less than 40 each 60th anniversary '57 Speedmasters left.

My brain says Railmaster as it's vintage and yet modern but my heart says Speedy Tuesday.....
