I put in my deposit for the Speedy...but the more and more pictures I see...man, that Railmaster is calling my name. I know that at my OB a couple of the Railmasters are not spoken for (at least the last time I spoke w them). If that remains the case, whenever these watches are ready to be picked up...whether I might "switch" to the Railmaster instead. Simple and beautiful.

<sigh> 🥰 They look so much nicer without the "Trilogy" text and # on the dial

Same mindset, but with the Seamaster 300. The clear choice for me is the Speedy (and with that Time &Tide article, it still is), but every time I see that thin countdown bezel, recessed lume, and the fact I can take it anywhere without worrying about water/moisture, I always I have to stop and think about it for a second...

Agree. Of the three the Speedy is the one I can't live without, but that seamaster is something special as well. If in the next year or two I end up with the opportunity to pick one up at or under MSRP, it might be too good to pass up. Really hoping when I finally get the call, there's a seamaster at the OB I can check out as well.

The railmaster looks great too, but I currently have a Halios Seaforth scratching that general itch, and feel like I'd pick up a 1016 before I'd get the railmaster if I decide to get something spendier than that.

Also Really hoping those Time & Tide images are accurate to the dial color of the speedy. It looks perfect to me.

Exact same mindset here only that I also own a sea dweller which is already a dive watch...

Agreed! Of course it'll vary depending on outdoor or indoor lighting, but those pictures are stellar. Doesn't hurt they have white light during their photoshoot to make those dials pop.

So, if a guy wanted to pull the trigger on one of these, what do you think the chances would be of getting one, and how would you go about it?

Obviously, I'm late to the party.

I considered myself pretty late too. But I was able to get the railmaster reserved at an OB with no problems. I would seek out an OB. Just note you will probably pay full price.

contact your closest omega boutique and see what availability is like. if they are sold out, either keep calling until you find one with allocation or get on the waiting list. i'm sure some won't pull the trigger on the speedy in the end

It seems like certain areas of the world are through their allocation, but from what I've read in these threads if you call an OB in the USA to make a reservation that's your best chance. Also it seems like the speedmaster is the most popular of the three, so assuming that's the one you want I'd move quickly. I'd call OBs first until you find one with a speedy available, and if you strike out there call around to ADs in the hope that you can find one with an allocated speedy leftover.

Seems like you should probably still be able to get one still though.

I think overall, the full deposit is holding some people back, so I think there is good availability as long as you are willing to do the legwork...

I think you just need to fire off an email to your nearest Omega Boutique...in USA. Everyone seems to say they have availability. Even the Trio still seems obtainable. Have your credit card handy as a 20% downer seems de rigeuer!

So I emailed three boutiques last night asking about the LE Speedy. Two have responded saying they are taking deposits, (for the full amount), and I've yet to hear from the third. So from my perspective, they are out there.

$7200 is about double what a non LE sells for. I may have to rethink my budget.

While it is considerably more than a non-LE, I think you'd do better long-term with the '57 vs the standard speedy. With the reaction so far being what it has been, I think the remaining supply will evaporate quickly now that we're seeing the first railmaster being delivered today. If I were betting on a watch of the trilogy the appreciates in value over time (or at least doesn't depreciate) it'd be the speedy. I've talked about this before, but I think they'll end up being more expensive than the speedy tuesdays.

The ST required no deposit and sold out immediately. Because of the nature of the pre-sale, it was free to speculate on. By the time they started to be delivered and people started to have to pay, they were already +9k on ebay. If you were on that list, you'd be an idiot to not pick yours up and resell it. Easy/free money. Compare that to the '57. By all accounts it's 80-90% sold out, and very few people have even seen them yet. And they required 100% deposit in many cases. That's expensive to speculate on. These watches are mostly going to collectors who really want them, so I think we'll see a lot fewer available on the secondary market once they sell out. And I think them not being sold out isn't necessarily indicative of lower demand. I know a lot of people on here have said they want the watch but were uncomfortable with the deposit requirements. So, now that they're apparently starting to ship, I think we'll see that remaining stock sell quickly.

My standard advice though, regardless of thoughts of appreciation/price:

Get the one you want. Numerous times I've bought a watch that wasn't the one I really wanted but was "close enough," and they never really scratch the itch. If you like the '57 better and can afford it, you should get the '57. It'll be more expensive (probably, IMO) in a year to sell your standard speedy and pick up a '57 than it would be to just buy the watch you want now.
