Dear all, Does the Connie in the pictures look genuine? I don't have pictures of the movement. The seller (a vintage watch store in the US) claims that it's from the 60's. Sorry about my ignorance, but I thought this exact design was only made in the 50s. Thank you!!
Unfortunately no, the seller hasn't provided any info regarding these. Edit: The seller later confirmed that the reference is 2852-4 sc, 24 jewels cal. 505, and the watch is from 1958, not the 60s.
Well, it's been a hard week and maybe you're right. More likely to be a ref. 2852, yes. https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-omega-constellation-2652-1790343109
Ref. 2652 has a screw-down caseback, so that's out of the question. When comparing bumper autos such as ref. 2782 with a ref. 2852, you can tell by the slightly taller snap-on caseback that it is a full-rotor automatic
Deffo not 1960s, as the guys say above most likely a mid-late '50s 2852. Note the spelling of Chronometre. This places it as no later than about 1958 (I forget the exact cutoff, see Desmond's site for info), the spelling changed to meter in the late '50s. That dial didn't AFAIK make it into the 60s, the lug design not much beyond 1961 when the dog legs took over.
Dear all, thank you so much for all your help! The seller has confirmed that the reference is 2852-4 sc, 24 jewel cal. 505, and the watch is from 1958, not the 60s.
In your opinion, what would be a good price for a Constellation pie pan in this condition if it's recently serviced? Thank you
