·Next up and going back in my collection some time: my Benrus Sea Lord.
Stainless case, sunburst silver dial and ETA movement with 9/12 quickset. Case measures 35/38/11 with 17.5mm lugs.
Dial appears flawless to me with bright yellow lume and is double signed “Swiss” on the dial and rehaut.
This is a front loader and the crystal/rehaut must be aligned perfectly with pips to indices (anyone who has replaced a crystal on watches like these knows how much of a PITA it is as they creep when you release the crystal lift). So know that prior to any service.
This things wears beautifully but due to the short lug-to lug, it should be worn with a long strap or bracelet (Milanese mesh is how I wore it for a while, nice combo) if your wrist is over 7.50”.
Case is in good shape and back retains original sharp engravings
Original factory tucked crown.
For those not familiar with tucked crowns, they can be a bit fiddly to manipulate (particularly manually winding to get it going as there isn’t much purchase) - the price we pay for sleek case contours. But with my fingernails I can easily give this a few dozen winds and setting is silky smooth.
Obligatory wrist shot
Benrus’ (Benrus-i, Benrsuseses, Benri??) of this this era are real sleepers, great parts, solidly built, and beautifully styled. This one being a date only and all stainless sets it apart from the many that we commonly see that are gold plated with day/date.
Watch has been sitting in my box for some time, but fired right up and has kept time all day (date flips right at midnight).
Service history is unknown so it should have a service to ensure daily reliability. Asking $175 including shipping to CONUS. Outside the US we can figure out the shipping.
The cheap faux croc in the pics isn’t included (trust me, you don’t want it, it’s falling apart), but I can throw it on another cheap strap or a nato if you want to wear it out of the box.
I have good feedback here and can provide plenty of references. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
