·The purge of 2022 is upon us, today I am listing my 1970’s Benrus 666 Sea diver with factory bracelet.
This is the last gasp from Benrus for these divers. The clean date free 3/6/9/12 dials are what people love about these (I will avoid the hyperbolic “exp” or “mil” words describing this type of dial).
This is unusual as they normally are part of the Belforte line and are branded as such, but this one wears the Benrus name on the dial and bracelet- I haven’t seen one branded like this before.
Case and bracelet are stainless steel, bezel is acrylic (plastic). The bezel was slightly loose (spinning freely) when I got it so I did the dental floss trick (single loop of waxed floss under the bezel) which gave it perfect tension (mint flavored of course so we can say the watch is “minty”).
Bracelet comfortably fits my 7.5” wrist which was a huge selling point for me as factory bracelets of this era are usually sized small and good look finding links for them.
Case measures 37.5x42 and only 12mm thick (according to my cheap old calipers). It wears very slim to the wrist due to the shallow case back, low dome crystal and curved case.
Watch winds and sets like silk and keeps excellent time- of course a service is advised for long term health as I have no clue about the service history.
Pricing it is tough as I can’t find any comps- not even the Belforte version and they rarely come up with factory bracelet. I’m asking $350US (conus shipping included).
Will be shipped USPS, out of the US we can discuss best options.
I can provide ample references if needed, feel free to ask any questions.
