6 month Omega dial Cracked

Bought my Omega seamaster 300M diver watch last July and I just noticed the dial has cracked. I have babied the watch and has no impacts at all. Yet 2 days ago I noticed the dial has a crack. Has anyone experienced this? I’m currently travelling and wanted to get it fixed while im in Dubai using warranty. Has anyone experienced warranty replacements and how long it takes?
Any help would be appreciated.

Ouch! It is without a doubt a warranty topic, but if you go to the Omega boutique (and they have a watchmaker who can do basic stuff, like regulating), and IF they have locally dials on stock, this would be an indication that it *happens*. And you may let us know.
I have never searched, but also never seen a topic about this problem in the usual forums.

I imagine they will change it under warranty but I wouldn't expect it to be a quick turn around. How long are you in Dubai? In some locations, the service centre backlog runs to 3 months or more.

I’m in Dubai till Jan 1st. I don’t have my warranty card in my either. Hoping they can fix while I’m here since I’m scared it will get worse and damage the watch.

If I was in your situation (that you fear further damage to the watch) - maybe put it in a box with the crown out (not that the dial shatters and the watch hands collide with the pieces), go and buy a cheap (in terms of affordable) but not throw away watch for the rest of your stay - like Citizen Tsuyosa or Casio DW-5600W.

It's not likely you can get it fixed in Dubai in that timeframe. And it's not likely to get much worse and damage the watch. Best course of action is to wear it until you return home and have it fixed under the warranty. It will take time.

Take it to Dubai Mall Boutique and they will send it off to Omega and send it to your home once done.
Would be the option I would go. Nice people at the boutique in Dubai mall 👍

Is the crystal cracked here at the red arrow? If so, it appears that maybe this watch was dropped - IF that is the case, I wouldn't count on it being a warranty repair.

Good eye Archer. From my experience only, I've never heard of or personally experienced a dial just cracking.

Good eye @Archer, the watch could have also had an impact while on the wrist which the wearer didn't realize. We've all whacked watches on a door jamb or other obstacle, looks like the impact was just at the wrong point in this case.

We are in the Christmas/New Year's home stretch, nothing gets done. I see little point in dropping the watch off in Dubai now for possible warranty service and introducing another party or two into the equation, including international shipping.. Wait until you get home and work with the dealer who sold it to you, this will be important if the question of warranty coverage becomes an issue. Now is the time to stick to the KISS principle.

Never seen this before either. But I bet this thread will get randomly referenced months and years from now whenever someone fear mongers about ceramic durability lol.

Agreed with STANDY though, just take it to the boutique and ask them to have it shipped to your home address when service is complete. They'll just put that on the order info and the service center will take care of the rest.

I read of one other cracked dial here. It was a new SMP, can't even remember the color. In fact, I don't remember if it was actually cracked or the member was posting here for their own sanity.

Okay, I found it:

Yep - remember that one now. That watch didn't have what appears to be a cracked crystal though, so we'll hopefully see where this one ends up.

That’s not a chip. Its glare. The crystal has no issues. I checked it multiple times. I have a family friend who works as a senior executive for an AD here in Dubai. He has sent it to the service center. They will review and let me know if it can be fixed before I leave for the states. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Looks more like a crack than a chip.

Any update? The crystal does look like it took an impact.

Damn if it didn’t fall and just cracked for some unexplained reason that’s kinda scary but weird things do happen and things fail.

If a kid tips over his drink they always say, "It spilt", they were never responsible for the spill, it just happened. I think that's the position with the OP's watch.

I’m not calling it just thinking about it. I just had a part on a car go (sorry the name is escaping me) that normally would only give in an accident or perhaps hitting a deep pothole at high speed. I had to bring it to my buddies shop as a lift was required to repair. I had no impacts or potholes sturdy metal just snapped. I asked him the deal and all he could say was as 30 years as a mechanic he has seen plenty of unexplainable things give.
Now perhaps that’s a bad analogy I’m not really sure just saying sometimes weird things do happen and I would not immediately assume the OP is not being truthful we have all, or at least I have, dropped a watch with no major damage.

Just thinking it out I remain neutral.
