路I was looking around at what's available, and was very close to purchasing a couple of quite expensive stones. Then it dawned on me that this hasn't have to be that complicated and you don't need $200 for a base and set of stones.
Ordered a bunch of different grid diamond plates. Really cheap at just $1 or $2 per plate. Ali has them for $1, but probably will take a month to arrive. Temu has them $10 for a set of 5, and Amazon of course asks $5 per piece. Same exact plates, which I'm sure aren't the greatest quality out there, but you could buy 10 for the price of the next bump in quality.
Designed a base with storage around them. The plate holder is a press fit, which exposes the inner storage when removed. Holds up to 5 plates and a Bergeon 2461 tool. Even added some feet holes for ~1mm silicone pads so it doesn't slide around. Have been using it for a bit, while fixing little things I noticed. If it was useful to me, I'm sure it may come in handy to at least one other person.
You can find the model in MakerWorld. If you don't like creating an account in there and whatnot, I've also attached the models in a zip at the bottom of this post. It contains 3 profiles: normal, tough (more walls), and without feet holes.
