I’ve been wearing my new PO 39.5 for about a month now. While I really like the watch I couldn’t help thinking that it was a touch too small for my 6.75 - 7.0” flat wrist. As someone else mentioned this is probably because the lug distance is very short. Increasingly, the thought that a better size PO might exist in the 43.5 kept lingering and tormenting me. So, finally I decided to purchase a PO 43.5 figuring that I will either keep it and sell the 39.5 or return it and pay a $100 restock fee. Either way it would force an informed decision. Well, I can tell you that for someone with an in-between wrist size this is more difficult than deciding a name for your first born son. At times I would convince myself that the 43.5 was just right, while at other times, I felt like it had way to much mass. I came to the realization that it was my ego really wanted the 43.5 to work. The 43.5 doesn’t look out of place on my flat wrist. The bezel measures 42mm and seems like a nice size. But, what bothered me about the 43.5 is that it felt a bit top-heavy and for me this was its undoing. I’m active and like to wear my watch without noticing it moving around. The 39.5, is noticeable smaller, but only smaller when compared to the 43.5. On it’s own, the 39.5 is a substantial cases size. On my wrist it feels better than the 43.5. They both look great, but the 39.5 just feels better. So the watch is going back. It cost me a $100, but it was totally worth it. Moral of the story; try-on these watches whenever possible. When buying online this can be tricky. The 39.5 isn’t the “perfect size” for me, but for regular wear it’s better than the 43.5. Hoping they slim down the 43.5 on the next release.
39.5mm on Crowne and Buckle NATO strap and my small 6.25” wrists
M Matt91ukHello mate I have similar sized wrists to yours, in fact mine are smaller at around 6"... would this watch be ok in your opinion? I currently own a Tag Heuer Aqua Racer 41mm with a lug to lug of 47mm. I find the lug to lug is the most important measurement as any overhang makes the watch look too big IMO but the tag sits just fine with my wrist shape. What are your thoughts on the 39.5PO for small wrists?
I guess that question goes to everyone what your thoughts are. I think the 300M sea master will be too big, but I want to treat myself following a few years of medical problems finally coming to an end and I love the PO... but I don't want something that will look daft or overly standout for the wrong reasons.
I know the best way is to try one on... but look for some thoughts or pictures on smaller wrists to convince me its not too big!
Appreciate it.
Thanks
Matt
The Planet Ocean 39.5mm is less than 45mm lug to lug, I think it will be OK for your wrists. The 300M might be a tad too large I would say, for me it was. But as you say, better to try it on! Also, congrats on resolving your health issues!
M Matt91ukQuestion again to the group then... am I right in thinking there is also a 37.5mm variant? I hadn't seen much about it when searching, but a few places including reviews on YouTube show a 37.5mm, is this still an active model?
Thanks
M Matt91ukThanks, i ask if its still current as most of my local ADs don't stock it and the sites I can find selling it say its out of stock and I refuse to buy it from a store online without seeing/ trying it on! But I'd love to compare this against the 39.5 to see which is the best fit for my 16cm wrist which I think sits me between these two sizes depending on which fits and feels best!
I don't think it will be easy to find one at and AD since this has been discontinued. There are a lot on chrono24.
Well, I really liked my 39.5 PO for the two months that I’ve had it, but it just feels slightly too small for my 6 3/4 - 7” wrist. I seem to be in-between sizes, with the 43.5 definitely feeling too top heavy, but the 42mm 8500 just right. I want my PO to be more substantial than my SMP. So I’m planning to sell it, probably on eBay or Chrono24 unless someone on this forum is interested. It’s in great condition, purchased new in late July 2020.
