    Why wouldnt it be?

40MM is the undisputed champ of dive watch diameter sizes

14.2MM is chunky enough to give tool-watch wrist presence, but slim enough to fit under every cuff

Liquid metal and ceramic bezel and dial, cutting edge technology

8800 movement is Master Chronometer rated, co-axial, and cutting edge technology. I can do without the time zone function and 5 hours of power reserve if it means slimming down 1.5mm in height.

Just some random thoughts as I work through my latest watch obsession. Some random internet pictures since no post is really complete without pictures. I'll try to upload my own next time I try one on (again):

It's a really pretty watch, but I still prefer my watches (even dive watches) to be thinner, like the old SMP or Sub. I'm not into this whole "wrist presence" thing.

I thought the thickness of the new Omegas would be a problem, but the PO 42 8500 is far more comfortable than my 116710 GMT Master

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the 6 digit Rolex watches, and I don't like the feeling of the Rolex case backs on my wrist, either. I do like the diameter and thickness of most of their watches, though.

The problem for me was the triplock digs into my wrist something awful.

Not gonna lie, the thickness of the PO wasn't as much a factor for fitting it under cuffs than the absurdly oversized helium escape valve. That crown caught on EVERY SHIRT without fail.

That being said the newer case design does fit a lot better on the wrist so hopefully Omega will continue listening to their supporters and thin out the rest of their Coax range. The Speedy Racing 9300 took a little more than a millimeter off which helps as well.

When Omega brings back a 42 mm Planet Ocean at 14.2 mm thick and with a matte dial, then I'll be one of the first in line. Not until.

It's a great looking watch that hits a lot of points for me. Not being a diver, two things bug me about this watch. One is the thickness, and that bugs me about a large portion of the Omega lineup. The second is the big He valve, I don't dive so purchase of this watch would be for aesthetics. Otherwise the diameter is perfect, I like the hands and the bezel. Design wise I think this watch has a lot going for it.

I'd still choose the 43 PO over the 39.5. For me, the lugs are too short on the 39.5 model. I assume this is to make it more wearable on thinner wrists and ladies wrists specifically because this is the model that is used for women's specific models.

I'd say that's a good assessment. I have 7" wrists, and while I can pull off the 43mm, the 39.5mm looks more balanced for me. If I had beefier wrists (maybe 8"?), I probably would have gone for the 43mm. I will say, it would likely take a woman with big wrists to pull this watch off, even with a daintier strap. On the bracelet, there's no doubt this is a men's watch (at least according to convention- I realize there are exceptions to every rule).

With my 7.75" wrists I have found 40mm to be the minimum for my tastes, and only a few 40mm models make the cut.

My sweet spot is probably 41/42mm. I have a 44mm Speedmaster and love it, and I used to wear my PO 45.5mm Seamaster daily with no issues.

Lately, however, I prefer less wrist presence. Something more understated without looking too tiny. I'm thinking about exploring a trade of my 45.5mm PO for a 41mm Seamaster 300M in black. I have a tough time letting go of watches that served me faithfully for a decade.

I'd say for everyone with wrists under 8".

I sold my DeepSea because I couldn't deal with the thickness, the same goes to the PO, I always prefer comfort over looks, that's why the SMP is my favorite Seamaster [IMG]

For the vast majority of people, 40mm is the perfect watch size, just look at the best selling timepieces on the planet (Rolex) the are all 40mm, looks good on big and small wrists

To be "perfect" it needs to lose that silly protuberance...the HE valve:whistling:
