Looking to add a PO to my collection and leaning towards 39.5 mm 8800 or 2500 LM LE. I hope to find a 8800 sample in a local shop to see if how it looks on the wrist but I will not be able to locate the 2500 LM LE locally. Has anyone owned both watches and able to provide feedback? The pictures of the 2500 LE are amazing but I have never purchased a watch unseen for the amount of the 2500 LE but there is a 1st time for everything

What watches look good on your wrist?

I picked my 39.5mm PO a few weeks ago and I must say the size is perfect for my 7.5" wrist. I pretty much knew it would be as I also have a 40mm Tudor chrono thats also the perfect size. Though the PO is a a bit smaller it has great presence.

Had a Tutima and a Tag in 42mm and they both looked and always felt too big.

Generally 40-42 mm under 15 mm height

Generally a 40 to 42 mm looks good on my 7" wrist. I prefer watches under 15 mm thickness. Both watches fit the bill.

Watches that work for me with a 7.25-7.5 wrist.
45.5 Planet Ocean first gen chrono
@42mm - Speedy Pro, SKX, Sinn 903
<38 various vintage non tool watches ie no bezel.

Watches that don’t work

39mm Speedy Date (looks small)
Any Tag Monaco

If you can wear a pro or any 42mm chrono you can do a 2500 PO.

Buy your 42mm 2500 now. Mark my words.
I owned a 42 mm black bezel black dial rubber strap with a 2500 C motor. One of the most comfortable watches ever. Topper had them for a while.

I traded the 2500 C PO for a 2500 D SMPC in blue.

I love my SMPC, but miss my 2500 PO.

One of a handful of watches I regret letting go.

I tried on the new PO 39.5 ... to tall in height for me.

The new SMPM felt more comfortable.

Definitely try on a 39.5 PO. Before I bought my 43.5 I was basically 99% set on the 39.5. My wrists are a little over 7" probably, and quite flat (luckily).

When I went to the AD to try on a 39.5, it looked absolutely tiny. I'm sure I'd have got used to it, but I was completely underwhelmed, and the sales guy said that looks small on your wrist, how about the bigger one? As soon as I tried on the 43.5 the sales guy and myself both said yeah, that's a better size.

The lug to lug is very conservative on the latest PO's, its actually smaller L2L than my Seiko Sea Urchin 41mm.

The issue for me is that despite very conservative L2L measurements on the PO's, they are very thick/ tall (even the 39.5), so they are pretty bulky... And imo not that well balanced on a smaller wrist.

I do wonder whether if I'd gone for the 39.5, I'd be getting on with it better now, as I'm currently not sure about the 43.5... I'm actually considering selling it.

But my point is, definitely go and try both sizes on and make your own mind up... By all accounts the 42mm LMLE would wear a bit more like the 43.5 due to the bigger L2L on the LM, but with a slightly smaller dial and also thinner I believe. I reckon the 42 LMLE could be very nice indeed!

Appreciate all of the feedback.

Went to the local AD and tried on a 43.5 PO. It fit very well on across the wrist. The L2L distance was shorter than expected but it was chunkier than expected. With a thickness over 16 mm thickness, I should not have been surprised The AD did not have any 39.5mm to try on. I will keep searching for 39.5mm or 2500 to test drive.

Can anyone tell the dial and bezel diameter of the 39.5mm PO? I want to compare it to the 42mm.

I read on another watch forum that the dial size is only around 37 or 38mm. The 39.5mm is because of the crown guards while the 43.5mm has a 42mm dial size.

I have the original 2500 and the 2500 LE, and they're both fantastic. You won't regret getting the LE if you can find it at a decent price. I've tried on the 8500 and newer POs but didn't really like the thickness compared to the "classics".

Our duty on these forums…never stop pressing for a PO line with less thickness.

Thick vs diameter proportions, as percentages, my estimations:

PO 39.5=35.4%

PO 42=37.3%

PO 43.5=36.8%

I own the 42 8500 and although the thickness I prefer it over my SubC, but hope for a 42 , 14mm tall, that would be perfect.

I've never seen one in the flesh, sadly. I actually went into my local AD to get one last year and was told in no uncertain terms that they don't usually carry the 39.5 - which is a shame. I did go with the 43.5 (now sadly departed), but always wished I'd have least tried the 39.5 or I would not have been tempted to get my present Seamaster.

@foxtrot I do agree we should be pushing for a thinner PO whatever the size. Would be perfect

Did not know they came in that size, thought that 42mm was the smallest men size and that always put me off even though it’s a great looking piece!

I agree that the 39.5mm PO is a good size. My wrist is about 7 5/8" and it fits pretty well. My watches range in size between a 36"mm Datejust to a 42mm Speedmaster. I had a Heuer 85th Birthday watch, which is nearly 43mm, and that was too much for me. The PO dial has a lot of dimension and detail that I like but, for some reason, it hasn't received any sustained wrist time lately. I either need to start wearing it again or send it to another home...

I'd say for everyone with wrists under 8".

I agree. As wth the OP's comments .... ditto on 40mm

43mm is not the problem, the thickness is the problem.
For the vast majority of people, 40mm is the perfect watch size, just look at the best selling timepieces on the planet (Rolex) the are all 40mm, looks good on big and small wrists. I sold my DeepSea because I couldn't deal with the thickness, the same goes to the PO, I always prefer comfort over looks, that's why the SMP is my favorite Seamaster.

You now own the 43.5 PO Wilfreb, how is the thickness working out for you?
