I don't know, I've tried as hard as I could to 'need' the 39.5mm, and just found the proportions off (thick, short L2L, overly crowded dial). The 43 certainly wears bigger, but not overly so.

43mm is not the problem, the thickness is the problem

(Rolex) the are all 40mm, looks good on big and small wrists

Maybe on the old Rolex, some of the new Sub C look ridiculous on small wrists. The boxiness hangs over the wrist bones on a good number of pics I've seen of it on most forums.

I sold my DeepSea because I couldn't deal with the thickness, the same goes to the PO, I always prefer comfort over looks, that's why the SMP is my favorite Seamaster e155197425df06acb3cca877be0c4c6e.jpg
Do you know what, I was thinking go for the PO 42mm cal 2500 as its going to gain in value, I have seen a couple running at £2400.00. I don't like shiny but I do like the look of the new ish SMP 300 you show here, I can find that brand new at under £2500 on the grey market I really do like that new one it looks great on the wrist. But then I have an SMP300 quartz from 2006 that is running perfectly. But that one you have there in that picture looks the dogs. I think the PO is out, IF I am going to go for a replacement SMP I think I will go the current one and in Blue. This photo of your convinced me the SMP is the way to go.

But...if they did away with the He release valve, how would you fill your party balloon? 😀

Mine weighs 176g with 3 links taken out.
I have a 7" wrist and I think 39.5 is perfect for me, it's a chunky monkey but it sits really well on the wrist and is really comfortable.
I've been a die hard vintage rolex fan for many years (although I have got a 71 speedy) and this is the first modern watch I've bought in a long time, and my first ever brand new box fresh watch!
I think for the money it's a great watch, I love it!

When Omega brings back a 42 mm Planet Ocean at 14.2 mm thick and with a matte dial, then I'll be one of the first in line. Not until.

This is my dream!

I don't know, it's whatever feels right for you, like anything there'll be no 'perfect' size for everyone. I've got ~7" wrist and moderately larger than average hands: I think the 43.5 feels right but maybe some would say it's too big for me. I tried the 39.5mm and it felt too small for this style of watch, but then I wore a Breitling Superocean Chrono for 14 years: If I don't have a brick strapped to my left arm it feels like something's missing. I did have it a little loose at times for the first couple of weeks so was irritated by the crown but that was solved with a simple extra link removal.

42mm and a fraction slimmer would probably be truly perfect for me but I love what I have ... if I wanted subtle I wouldn't have chosen any 'full-on' diver. I intended to buy a solid high quality sports watch, not an elegant dress piece.

Yes! the 39.5mm PO is the perfect size. I wish Omega's new ceramic PO wasn't so huge. All about 45mm is ridiculous. Please make a sub 42mm version.

The 10x new 39.5mm models are ceramic as are the 9x 43.5mm models, of which mine is one. There are 4x 45.5mm models plus 11x 45.5mm chronograph. So that's 19 ceramic master chrono models <45mm.

I have yet to try any new PO since the master co axial upgrade. Personally, I’d like to have a PO at 43mm and 13mm in height. For that to happen, I’d happily to do away with the see through case back.

Why wouldnt it be?

40MM is the undisputed champ of dive watch diameter sizes

14.2MM is chunky enough to give tool-watch wrist presence, but slim enough to fit under every cuff

Liquid metal and ceramic bezel and dial, cutting edge technology

8800 movement is Master Chronometer rated, co-axial, and cutting edge technology. I can do without the time zone function and 5 hours of power reserve if it means slimming down 1.5mm in height.

Just some random thoughts as I work through my latest watch obsession. Some random internet pictures since no post is really complete without pictures. I'll try to upload my own next time I try one on (again):

Agree!

From what I can see, these 39.5mm POs are gaining quite the following, at least on OF!

😎
