I had a 3861 for 2 1/2 years and it worked flawlessly, no issues whatsoever. Others had a problem the first couple of days of ownership. Luck of the draw it seems.

That's what happened with my new one. I sent it to SGUS and they resolved the issue, lack of power reserve, gave it a complete service and returned it NC! It took over a month but all is well 😀

I’ve got my 3861 moonwatch back after a month at the service center, and according to the service chit they did a full service with the parts in the list replaced. Was kinda disappointed they didn’t ‘fix’ the chrono minute hand moving one second too early, but I guess that’s another matter. SA doesn’t know anything when I asked her about the servicing just that it’s done and tested to work. I’ve ran the chrono for 6 hours and it seems fine. We’ll see.

Just wondering, Archer, are these change of parts indicative of the same problem mentioned in this thread?

And I received in a small zip lock bag attached to the service receipt, (pardon my ignorance in the proper terms) two tiny washers and a bent out cog wheel. Interestingly the wheel looks quite badly bent, did I actually do that while using the watch, or was it bent by the watchmaker while removing?

Those are the two bushings and the centre wheel. Someone has bent the wheel after it was removed from the watch for some reason.

Likely going to buy a 3861 soon. Do you guys really believe the recently produced models are free of this issue? Would you have any hesitation to buy now?

If there is an issue due to the movement is new on the market, i'm sure omega will replace it / fix it / make it great again!
I don't have one now as I have the 1863 but I think you can't do wrong with it!

Short answer is as long as you are buying a newly produced piece, yes - issue addressed by Omega. If it is concerning to you (and it was to me), consider purchasing from an OB that you can ask the question to with respect to the specific watch you are looking at.

This is a very, very common trait of the Moonwatch. I think it’s just more of a quirk.

I just figured they are erring on the side of caution. With a chrono if you are going to have an offset between the second hand and the minute hand it’s far more advantageous in terms of functionality that the minute hand clicks over a fraction too early rather than late.

WTF, is your watch ones of the watches delivered early or late in the A11 saga?

At this point omega should warranty all watches up to a certain date and provide a free 1st service with the 3861 movement.

Aren’t all 3861 Speedy’s still under the 5 year warranty umbrella (so long as you purchased it with cards). As discussed many times in this thread, this issue is fixed under warranty.

There should be an extended warranty. Not the normal 5yr. Just my take.

I agree. Same with dreaded problem with the newer movements.

As this shows, if they are going to fail it’s going to be within the warranty period likely. If you get more than the warranty period without a problem, then there’s really no justification for a free service.

I don’t understand why. The warranty is there for a reason and for a given time frame, and if your watch has exceeded that period without issue, then I’m not sure why you’d expect Omega to extend the warranty for you.

Omega has already resolved this issue a while ago and have been making these movements with the fix in place. This thread has been dormant for just about a year. I have a December 22 dated 3861 and have worn it every day while running the Chronograph for hours to time how long I’m doing my schoolwork, and I have not yet experienced issues mentioned in this thread. That is just an anecdote, but I don’t have any concerns with my watch. I’m enjoying it. If it for some reason fails within the five years, then I have a warranty to fall back on. If it for some reason fails after the warranty ends, then I’ve had a good run with my watch and it’s time for a service, for which I will pay for.

Yes, any times...hour recorder creep...
So I sent it off to my local Omega service center in Southampton uk & £500 later all serviced & working good as gold. it’s a 2017 005 1861 that I purchased from the Venice Italy ad & the start stop spring had broken. I suppose the Larson here is it’s a big boys watch & needs servicing every 4-5 years at around £500 a throw so suck it up

I sent my 3861 speedy off to Omega around 5 months ago with the dreaded chrono issue and it looks like they have lost my watch. Bloody annoying as it’s a birth year watch for my son.
