    Hey all

I have recently acquired a 25318000 It had a scratch on the crystal and a chip so I ordered a NOS Genuine Omega Crystal (Part number 062SA3008) Although the reference number suggests it should have AR coating it dosent seem to have it, I do have a 25418000 and it does have the purple hue to the crystal (AR Coating) which I was expecting on the 062SA3008 part.

I have had several of these watches in the past and some seem to have AR and some don't, As all of my watches have been purchased used I cannot be sure they have the original crystals in them so I am wonder if anyone might be able to shed some light on this... Did they all come with AR coating??

    Thanks in advance. :)

AFAIK yes but they are only inner coated, not both. They may have changed the coating for one less (or more) obvious. They did something similar with the Planet Ocean, some haver a much more purple hue than others and those are in some cases double coated.

Ahh so it could have the coating on the inside.

Maybe the crystal in my 25418000 is aftermarket then but it does have a lovely hue very similar to my Planet Ocean.

    Thanks for your reply.

Pretty sure all 25318000 had coating on the inside. First double side coating has appeared on SMPc, around 2012.

25418000 with the purple hue sounds nice, could you post a photo? I am curious how does it look like.

Didn’t they update the AR coating so that it’s no longer blue tinted in some light?

Thanks @jjm3uk, AR looks to be entirely colourless to my eyes.

Yea its very hard to capture in photo but I promise you on the wrist it is obvious. Im not sure the Crystal in the 25418000 is genuine though but it is very very good quality (apart from the tiny chip in the crystal) I had the watch serviced and a new crystal gasket installed too so it passes pressure test and I do love the purple hue to it so it can stay as it is :)

I was wearing the 25318000 today and although no noticeable purple hue to the crystal I am happy with it. Plenty of real problems to be alot more concerned about in world just now but these Omegas do bring a bit of joy to my day :)
