No more Omega Speedmaster chronographs ???
Today, April 28 - 2022, marked the 250th planned spacewalk outside the ISS !
As some forum-members mentioned our topic on the possible use of an Omega 3861 during the late 2022 commercial SpaceX mission with brand new sleek design spacesuit out of the Crew Dragon capsule ... was boring, we continue to bring news of the ongoing Russian spacewalks outside the ISS

Again during the April 28, 2022 we didn't clearly spot an Omega Speedmaster strapped over the forearms of the solid-torso Orlan MKS spacesuit worn by cosmonauts Oleg ARTEMYEV and Denis MATVEYEV.
Cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev in the red-striped Orlan N° 5 spacesuit again wore 3 wristwatches while Denis Matveyev in the blue-striped Orlan MKS N° 4 spacesuit also seemed to wear personal choice of wristwatches.
In the first photo:
April 18, 2022 as Oleg Artemyev wore a record trio wristwatches strapped over his red-striped Orlan MKS n° 5
In the second photo:
Note how during EVA-preparations, Oleg Artemyev wore an Omega Speedmaster chronograph strapped over the muscles of his upper left arm !

.
Edit: Added a 3rd screenshot of the 250th EVA preparation, in which we see a pair of wristwatches in gold-colored tape over the right forearm of the red-striped Orlan MKS n° 5 spacesuit... Normally an Omega Speedmaster chronograph remains strapped over the forearm of the solid-torso Orlan spacesuits !

The way how Oleg Artemyev wore the Omega Speedmaster on long black velcro strap over his muscles, certainly emphasized the fact that new watches sit over the red-striped MKS n° 5 spacesuit... This long black velcro is normally used over the forearm of a Sokol or Orlan spacesuit.
I still have to check the blue-striped Orlan MKS n° 4 of Denis Matveyev

Just one more observation:
Note in the mirrored service how we can spot the large watch, one of two on Artemyev's righthand forearm of the red-striped Orlan MKS spacesuit. Also note it looks like his name is written on those white straps, something I also noticed on the lefhand strap !

@TLIGuy elsewhere has screen capture showing the second watch is a gold watch (seemingly the gold with white face watches seen on liftoff day)

Indeed and well-spotted
It certainly looks like that during EVA-53 preparations they swapped the watches from sides (April 18 EVA = 2 on left forearm while these sat during April 28 EVA on his right forearm of the red-striped Orlan MKS n°5 spacesuit).
Prep shows Oleg Artemyev with the manual winding Speedmaster over left upperarm muscles while Denis Matveyev wore a white strap X-33 ?

ISS 67 resident crew and their wrist watches
Just confirming that the white strap wrist watch worn by cosmonaut Denis Matveyev is an analog-digital Omega X-33 Speedmaster chronograph... Also some more background about the other time pieces 1f9d0.png

This photo shows that at least since August 2021, there were no Omega Speedmaster chronographs continuously strapped over the Orlan MKS spacesuits. (although Oleg Novitsky used one during both September 2021 EVAs).

This 2014 photo shows how Orlan MK spacesuits used to be stored with an Omega Speedmaster continuously strapped on the right forearm. Between 2001-2019 these were stored in the Pirs airlock, nowadays in the Poisk airlock.

And the other spacesuits ( SpaceX and Russian Sokol worn during launch & re-entry or during emergencies)
The IVA Sokol spacesuits are usually stored in the same way, but we know that the MS-21 crew didn't wear any Speedmaster chronographs on launchday 18 March 2022... still trying to find out what those large Gold-shiny white dial chronographs were 👎

Russian ISS Expedition 67 cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev and Sergei Korsakov were seen during a short May 9 “ Russia WW II Victory Day “ celebration onboard the ISS - International Space Station.
Finally a first view of the large black chronograph, with gold foil bracelet, a time piece which was also used by Artemyev strapped over the red-striped Orlan MKS n° 5 space suit during the recent 18th & 28th April 2022 spacewalks to activate ERA.

Did an Omega Speedmaster chronograph remain strapped over the Blue-striped Orlan MKS n° 4 spacesuit (Post-April 18th EVA photo)
Also take a look at the Red-striped Orlan MKS n° 5 space suit... what a (Russian ? Italian ?) wrist watch !
👎
The second photo also shows one of two blue dial wrist watches strapped over theright forearm of the Red-striped Orlan worn by Oleg Artemyev
During both April 18th & 28th Oleg Artemyev wore a recrd 3 wrist watches strapped over the red-striped Orlan MKS

First quartz wrist watch on a spacewalk ?
During the 251st spacewalk outside the ISS - International Space Space Station, both spacewalkers wore two wrist watches.
Russian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev in the red-striped Orlan spacesuit wore the same watches as he did on April 28, 2022 EVA: a black chronograph on left hand and a blue dial watch on the right hand.
Italian ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti in the blue-striped Orlan spacesuit (ESA & Italian flag patches)
wore a quartz wrist watch which was seen ticking away at her righthand Orlan spaseuit glove.

Samantha has been great answering questions. I thought I'd drop her a message asking about the watch she wore during her EVA and got an out office reply.

Wish I had a cool out of office reply like her's.

I'm on work travel... to Low Earth Orbit!

Emails at this address will not be read.

Please reach out again after my return.

All the best,

Samantha

Does that count as telecommuting?

As of 7/1, the standard mileage reimbursement rate is $0.625/mile, so she's really racking it up.

Provided she brings back pictures of the odometer before & after.

August 17, 2022 ... ISS EVA 54
Again both cosmonauts wore more than two wristwatches of which each had goldish kapton foil wrapped straps.
Besides a few unidentified wrist watches, MoonwatchUniverse noticed both cosmonauts used an Omega Speedmaster X-33 analog-digital chronograph on their right forearm. (Oleg Artemyev: Red Orlan-MKS) (Denis Matveev: Blue Orlan-MKS)
.
Again a plush toy ventured outside the ISS, connected to Artemyev space suit, he has done this before on previous spacewalks (Siberian Tiger and a Snow Leopard plush) and this shows us they really think about carrying personal items as souvenirs of their exciting time spent in space !
.
Thus far, besides the unidentified chronographs, 8 different brands have been exposed directly to outer space during EVAs:
1965, June 03 Omega Speedmaster 105.003-63 ( Gemini IV - Ed white )
1966, Sept 13 Glycine Airman automatic ( Gemini XI - Charles Conrad )
1971, Aug 02 Bulova 88510 chronograph ( Apollo 15 - David Scott )
1994, Sept 09 Fortis Official Cosmonauts ( TM-19 Mir-16 - Yuri Malenchenko )
2008, Sept 27 Fiyta chronograph ( Shenzhou 7 - Zhai Zhigang )
2008, December 23 Seiko Spacewalk Springdrive ( ISS Exp 18 - Yuri Lonchakov )
2021, September 3 Konstantin Chaykin chronograph (ISS Exp 65 - Oleg Novitsky)
2022, January 19 Panerai Radiomir PAM210 ( ISS Exp 66 - Anton Shkaplerov )
...
2022 : unidentified watches worn during 28th April, 21st July & 17th August 2022 spacewalks... among which the "Orient" worn by ESA astronaut Cristoforetti

Maybe it is all about politics and money /sponsorship now. That did well for popular music standards :0)
I know what I would wear for luck anyway (for cultures with a strong Apollo link)
