This post is not to pitch the fans of both vintage watches to fight with each other, rather, I would love to finalise either of these.

Salient points:
1. 2446 calibre 351
2. 2557 calibre 354
3. Both have equal wear and tear, equal amount of patina, it seems
4. Both look beautiful to me
5. The price quoted by sellers is the same for both
6. Both produced in 1952 and have been passed on to next generation, almost well maintained
7. Both claim to have servicing done in mid 2022
8. Both have decent leather belts attached recently

I am in dilemma, but I want practical inputs from you guys to help me decide please 馃榾
Of course - don't push me to buy both 馃榾

Points that may help me:
1. Which has better value for money?
2. Which was produced in lesser count, meaning has a vintage value higher than the other
3. Is there a pro or con regarding calibre 351 Vs calibre 354? Any movement is much better thn the other?

Please advise.
Thank you.

You will receive the best advice if you post several photos of each watch, including photos of the movements. I'm always amazed by the details the experts here are able to point out that would influence a decision to buy or not.

As in your previous thread regarding the 2577, how are we supposed to tell without decent pictures? Help us help you.

2. Which was produced in lesser count, meaning has a vintage value higher than the other
There are significantly more 2577s than 2446s. As a rule of thumb, Omegas with model names usually fetch more than similar examples without one. The 2577 is a Seamaster, the 2446 isnt. Despite it being more common, I'd say on average a 2577 will fetch more than a 2446 in similar configuration. Not significantly, though. Rarity doesn't always translate to a monetary premium.

3. Is there a pro or con regarding calibre 351 Vs calibre 354? Any movement is much better thn the other?
Have you googled the calibers? 354 is simply an "updated" 351. There are differences, but should they steer you towards one of the two? I don't think so.

You are right. They are on a different website and with watermarks, thus I am not taking screen shot and posting it here...I am not sure of the legalities . Anyway, consider that they are both equality good condition wise, then which calibre is better and which watch model in general has better vintage value. Also, other points that I asked....

See, this is the wealth of info I am not known to...Thanks man. I am learning through this forum. I completely agree that "Rarity doesn't always translate to a monetary premium", however, if the forum members have a say regarding either of the two being superior, then I might start inclining towards that model. Please remember, I am not well informed as you guys, so asking, googling and learning. Thanks

Without pictures, there is nothing to tell you.

While one reference might be less common than another, condition is everything when it comes to vintage watches. That also includes originality. That can only be judged by a visual (preferably in-person) inspection.

Everything else is just speculation.

There's nothing wrong with posting the pictures and crediting the source.

And if the 2577 you're speaking of here is the example you asked us about in your other thread, you already know the majority seems to believe it's not worth pursuing.

To conclude the discussion: I chose 2446 bumper with Calibre 351. Reason being the dial being original, better gold plating, beautiful patina, research of authenticity favoured 2446 and finally the seller was proactive on all my questions. I shall post a picture soon for the conclusion of this thread. Thanks.
