my wife is always “thinking” of how events will turn out... not only she drives me crazy with her thoughts, but she’s wrong 98% of the time... 😀

Hi OmeGez, I understand you so well and would like to tell you my personal story and how I happily solved this dilemma.

Some years ago I quit smoking and decided to put the monthly cigarette money away for a nice timepiece instead. When the time was ripe, I found a gorgeous example of a 50th anniversary GMT in black, from 2008, caliber 1128. I loved that watch! But since my holy grail watch has always been the 16570 EX II black, I kept saving the monthly cigarette money year after year, until I could finally afford a NOS 16570.

After about a year, it was clear to me that I was not going to wear that omega again even though it is such a cool watch. I thought and thought what is the smartest thing to do with it. and then I decided to give it to my brother as a present. As he knew that this was my own reward for not smoking any more, the Omega GMT has double good energy for him: one for beeing from his brother and one for beeing a non smoking reward.

7 years later I am convinced that no money in this world could outbalance the joy I have felt all this years in knowing that that particular watch is in my own brother's wrist plus his own joy getting his own brother's first non smoking Omega!!! Go figure!!! This is true win-win in my books.

The money I would have gotten from selling it would be long gone, and having it unused in the safe did surely not satisfy me.

This is how I solved this dilemma and tell this to you to show a way to achieve this kind of inner happynes that money can¨t buy.

Greetings from Switzerland,

Marcelo.
I love this theme.

I, too, love my 2254.50 and ended up going in with my sister in law to gift my brother the GMT version, which he wears daily

I love knowing that connection is there

And I’m hoping for a polar explorer 2 in 2020- waiting patiently.

I have had mine since 2007. Paid £1200 and had one Omega service for £370 in 2014. It does not get much wrist time now but for a while It was my main watch. I think this is one which I will have till the end - beautiful, elegant and very functional tool watch - classy sleek design.
If make it to 100, I think this is one of the only watches I will still be able to read - great legibility, and no risk if I forget to take it off in the bath or Pee the bed. My Step Mother has put one watch in the Washing machine and recently dropped one down the toilet - neither survived (I don't buy her expensive watches :0).

Just to update this: The 2254 has made its way back onto the wrist AND I LOVE IT. I smiled as soon as I put it on the wrist and realised how amazing the watch is. A little time apart definitely makes the heart grow fonder.

I also forgot how scratched it is, which made me all warm and fuzzy inside knowing all those marks are all from the adventures together.

Love my 2254/PO setup. I don't plan to ever sell it. I love the current look but I'm really looking forward to the watches next service and swapping it back to a 2254.

I do want to track down a 2255.80 at some point, love the blue dial.

Nice to see some appreciation for the 2254.50's often overlooked sibling. I hunted one down at a local pawnshop a few years back and have never felt the urge to part with it. I prefer it to the more restrained 2254.50 😎

I love it, I’m a little torn on the bezel, I’d love a blue or even black bezel on it. I go back and forth between that watch and the Bond/golden eye watch.

the appropriate ending for the watch; I would wager you might regret it if you had chosen otherwise

The interchangeability of inserts on the SMP is one of its atributes, just as done on the Rolex
GMT’s.

I have for my 2232 Ti 3 different inserts (18K WG it comes with, 18K WG from the non AC 2230 and the black with silver numbers from the 2254) and can play Barbie! 😁

It’s certainly why I thought so hard about buying your 2231 last year 😀

Thanks for all the pictures. I've been looking for a nice 2254.50 in Toronto for a while now, and all I can find is heavily polished watches ... looks like you guys have all the nice, well cared for ones !

Did they also make a quartz 2254.50 ? I have never seen one yet.

Enjoy the watch ... truly a classic.

The 2254.50, "Peter Blake", is one of my favorite watches. Glad you decided to hold on to it.

The quartz model number is 2264.50.00 on speedy style bracelet.
On the bond style bracelet the quartz model number is 2064.50
Same case as the 2254.50 automatic model.

I’m also looking for a 2254 or PO 2201.50 in Toronto. We don’t get a lot of the good stuff up here ☹️
