I own a B&R V2-93, GMT, equipped with an ETA 2893. The watch is about 1k cheaper than the BB pro and also rocks a perfect 12mm thickness.

Here it is compared to my Tudor GMT, it's night and day...

that B&R is a pretty sweet bit of kit

probably just price, if not market segmentation

compared to the BB58, the GMT function likely necessitates some added height in the movement

while the SkyDweller has a GMT function and an annual calendar, and is 0.5mm thinner - it’s also $14,000

the difference is maybe just in the expense of making a thin, capable, GMT movement (if not intentional market segmentation)
fair enough I guess a mm less would have been fine, if they could spare it

wow all they needed to do was keep the case of the BB58 for a homerun, they must know this... so it has to be on purpose for whatever reason. smh

Presumably they can’t fit the GMT movement into the 58 case (in terms of thickness) which is why no GMT 58 and why although this Pro comes in at 39mm it still retains the standard case thickness.

I looked at the bell and Ross gmt recently, on paper it really ticks all the boxes and at a price which is very appealing. I just struggle with the brand a little. But it uses an eta movement which isn’t really comparable to the Tudor GMT. I think the Tudor movement is 7.5mm so when taking into account the hands, case and domed crystal you can see why it comes in over 14mm.

I was passing the rolex store while going for lunch and saw the new Black Bay Pro at the window and thought to take a closer look.
I wasnt actually even interested in any new releases from either rolex or tudor. But i must admit this watch does look very nice in person. Maybe even the first Tudor that kind of appeals to me.
I have no use for the GMT function and this would be a useless feature for me, but the dial face is very attractive.
The thickness is not too terible, but it is indeed kind of a missed opportunity. Such a pitty, it could have been seriously owesome watch at a fair price point of 3750,-€ on a steel bracelet.

Here few pics:

interesting that it’s available to buy going in straight off the street. Hopefully that means stock will start showing up soon.

Not really. The piece i was looking at is apparently sold already. This is the only piece they will receive this year 2022! The next piece they expect to receive in 2023. And then the availability should be a bit better.
They said that they had exactly the same story with the Chronographs from 2021, in the first year they received from each model exact 1 piece. I remember i even had the chance to purchase it, but i didnt. It is some sort of "Tudor thing" they only deliver 1 piece in the first year. And in the second year they are more available. Sounds kind of strange, but thats what the sales woman told me.

Yes, they always do this. Remember the pelagos LHD which was rare as hens teeth for a year and then everywhere and also the gmt.

interestingly, I also had first look at the only chrono my AD got also and declined (it was black and I wanted the white). Within half an hour it had gone and they haven’t had another since!

Well there goes my hope of seeing one in person any time soon. How did it fit the wrist comparing to their other models. Love my bb58 but got rid of both the gmt and chrono as I could never really get over their chunkiness.

I can only comoare it to the normal Black bay, and it is definitely more compact than the BB or BB GMT. The BB58 probably wears a bit more comfortable than the Pro, but i had no direct comparison

I was worried about the thickness of the case, after owning the BB58, which fits extremely well and similar to the older Rolex models, the 14.6mm scared me. However when I tried it on with the bracelet (which is great with the new micro-adjustement), it felt rather well balanced and not top heavy as many of us thought.

As for the "faux patina", it really is more of a cream colour than a darkened patina. I think it ties the dial together quite nicely and gives it some warmth. Better than a stark white with the dial and hand colour combination IMO. Here's a picture, it looks really beautiful in natural light 😀

Ok, so time to eat my words. Having been quite worried about the thickness, one appeared in my AD window this morning on the fabric strap. I went in with an open mind, thinking that it would be too thick on the strap but tried it on anyway.

I bought it on the spot. The thickness is way overblown on this and it doesn’t wear anything like the gmt at all. Crucially, tudors bracelets are generally a weak point for me being extremely heavy so my preference was the rubber but the fabric gives it a sporty pop. I’ll likely pick up the other options in time, but am very happy with this for now.

Is it perfect? No. The gap between the lugs (something I have been very critical of in the past) remains but other than that, I’m struggling to find issue with it at a price point of £2,840 - indeed given the tooly look of the watch I find myself not noticing so much and I think the strap suits it perfectly. Will make a fabulous watch to take on holiday.

I’m very surprised and happy to eat my words on this one. It certainly doesn’t wear half as thick as I expected.

Fraser hart mate. The bracelet ones are generally accounted for, but they have other stock. This was in the window of my branch (newbury).

Think the stock might be starting to come through, just had a call from the AD where I bought my black bay 58 from. They have one in stock if I’d like it, pulled the trigger without seeing it, hoping for the same positive impressions others have had above.

Gone with the steel, keen to see what the new adjuster is like, could never get the black bay comfortable until I bought the uncle seiko half link. So hope this will fit like a glove.

Looking forward to trying this one on but my local AD doesn’t expect any anytime soon and was quoting me grey market prices

However this is only .5mm thicker than the trilogy seamaster 300 I wear all the time so I’m hopeful if I ever get to try one on I’ll like it.
