I'm still wearing mine on a strap, but need to give the brilliant bracelet a try.

I'm fascinated by this switch back to non-date watches recently. I have a Sub non-date and have always loved its clean appearance.

Is there a reason for the switch or just a trend?

I wouldn’t call it a trend so much as brands recognizing they need options. As you mentioned, Rolex has always offered no-date options (the oyster perpetual, Explorer, and no-date Sub). Omega has always offered the base Speedmaster Pro with no date. Now they are offering a few Seamasters with the no date as well.

As you note, many people love the aesthetics of no date window. I’m one of them, and will always choose a no date version if one is available.

I think a less talked about reason is that most watch collectors have several watches. 'Several' as in 3 or more, and the extra effort to adjust the date wheels on the pieces you don't wear is a less than exciting part of the hobby. I've always been fascinated by perpetual calendars but actually owning one sounds like a nightmare for this reason.

Not to mention everyone can look up day & date on their phone home screens already.. 😗

I think it's likely less to do with Omega spotting a consumer trend, and more sticking true to the no-date references these heritage models are lending from.

I’m still yet to see the blue at an AD or in person, and an trying to gauge from photos how it compares to the black dial, but each image seems to be different, whether that be down to light or shade or angle. Could anyone that has seen both add some insight - does the blue make the hour markers pop as you can see shadow that adds to the depth of the sandwich dial compared to the black, or does it make everything a bit bland and washed-out?

I’m looking to pull the trigger imminently and am swaying towards the blue as an alternative to my 3861 Speedmaster, but am unsure whether to be adventurous (for me) and go blue!

I absolutely love the watch though, especially the lollipop second hand and cut out numerals… I’m jealous of all you who have one already - keep enjoying this beauty!

1. prices on the blue are still near retail for the blue version in the grey market. There are a lot of like-new black dial versions at a substantial discount available.

2. the black dial is more versatile with my wardrobe. I wear a lot of colored shirts where the blue would clash. The black never will.

Hi Donn any chance you could point me in the direction of some of these black dial versions somewhat below retail on the market? Only ones on chrono24 are so close to retail that its not worth grey, and I haven't seen ones on this forum, WUS or the reddit one lately. thanks
