It completely changes the look of the piece, especially with the grey dial. Others have pics readily available, I don't, sorry.

EDIT- I was wrong, I do!!!

Looking at this combo, have to say, not sure I see the point in buying on bracelet with all the criticism of it and having many other pieces already on a bracelet. I think this on rubber off the bat is the way to go. I've read a couple of reviews on here about the rubber strap and it seems Omega have put some nice touches on it with everyone stating how comfy it is.

I have the rubber strap on my 300m, and I love it, its very comfortable! I only worry about the durability and how long it will last during daily use.

It's a great strap. For me the buckle was a little bit sharp and will poke the bottom of your wrist depending on where it sits and the shape of your wrist. Can't recommend it enough though - what a cracking bit of kit. I wish I never even bought the watch on the bracelet. I thought the bracelet was trash on a smaller wrist. The links were so long, it wouldn't actually hug my wrist all the way round. The lack of tapering is a huge oversight as well.

If your wrist is 6.5 inches - the smaller size would be much better! I can vouch for that.

Maybe this will help you. OEM Omega rubber strap has a titanium strengthener built inside. I'm a NATO guy, but the Omega rubber strap is super comfy! Photo credit goes to @Longbow!

I recently bought this rubber strap off another forum - but I'm suspect on whether it's actually genuine. Seeing this thread - can anyone comment on whether what the rigidity of that keeper feels like? I'm inspecting mine and it feels quite... rubbery - ie., like there is no way there could be a titanium insert, unless this changed over the last few months?

I’d recommend asking your AD, if possible - I’m dubious that the quality would be reduced by Omega.

I had the choice between a rubber strap and the bracelet for my black dial 300m, chose the rubber strap and it elevates the watch makes it look even more gorgeous, I never was a fan of seamaster bracelets, they came across to me as albatrosses and weighed the whole thing down instead of complimenting and lifting it to another level.

This is one area Omega has alot of work to do to catch up with competitors improving their bracelets (especially seamaster ones) in both design and quality.
I understand what you're saying but the new Seamaster 300 bracelet is a great improvement over previous especially with the easy micro adjustment. I've had other Omega bracelets including on my Speedy and the new bracelet is greatly improved .

Do you find the SMP rubber strap more comfortable than the AT rubber strap?

I bought the 2018 blue Omega Seamster 300M in December of 2019 through seller Interwatches on Chrono24. I absolutely loved everything about the watch, the blue, lasered dial, the bright ceramic bezel, the versatile rubber strap. To me it was like the original 300M Bond with better coloring and materials.

But I had an issue with the rubber strap. The second keeper broke within the first week of wear. I contacted Chrono24 and the person I spoke with told me I should be complaining to Omega directly, not him. I pointed out that Chrono24 sold me the watch, not Omega, and that he was the person I would be dealing with. Eventually I went to my local Omega store in Chicago and purchased a replaced rubber strap, I do not recall the price but I think it was around $250 USD, and Chrono24 covered half the cost of replacement.

I was truly disgusted with the gentleman I spoke with at Chrono24, he was rude and obnoxious and denied that the seller and Chrono24 had any obligation to me, despite their claim of buyer protection.

If ever there is an argument for going to an authorized dealer, that was it. That being said, I only paid $3,825 USD without tax, which was considerably less than what I would have paid through Omega directly. If I could do it again, I would have bought through Jomashop, their prices are competitive and they seem to have a reputation for quality service.

Since that time the 2018 Seamaster 300M has found itself sitting in the closet, and the original (or second generation Bond 2531.80) has found itself firmly planted on my wrist again! I still have the broken rubber strap and I might just cut the keeper open for comparison.

So long story short, beware of the non authorized dealers, and that rubber strap is marvelous, but not unbreakable.,

I can get the one on Rubber for $3,600 (Brand New, full kit, stamped AD card) from a guy locally, so it would be face to face cash (no fees or shipping of course).

I haven't come across too many blue bracelet versions yet on the second hand market, but the one that I did find right now for reference on davidsw is $3975 for bracelet version, lightly used.

Sorry for the doublepost. I assume you are located in the US, you can buy that watch from Jomashop directly for $3,820.

I should have used different wording, I wasn't being precise. Their servicing of watches has definitely been criticized. What I meant by "service" and what I should been more clear on, is that their prices are quite low and their reviews are generally pretty good. They are grey market but their watches are authentic.

Any grey market seller is going to be problem if your watch needs servicing.

If you are not worried about fake Seamasters, this video should give you pause:

Jon, while I understand that you had a poor experience with the strap, why did you decide to revert back to your Bond SMP?

It was nothing against the 2018 Seamaster, it is actually a better looking watch, though just a little bulky. The Bond SMP feel smaller and thinner, though I think the dimensions are pretty similar. I also have a SMP "Ray Donovan" with quartz movement, which is much thinner, but I like the blue color of the Bond.

Got it. I definitely feel that the SMP lost a bit of its “dressy” edge when it moved to the co-axial movement due to the slight increase in thickness.

I agree. The 2018 SMP would be perfect it were slightly thinner.

I suspect Omega designed the watch as competition to the Rolex Submariner, which is huge.

I find the SMP quite svelte, so much so that I have occasionally "missed" the bezel with dive gloves, but that's coming from the land of Siinn, Pelagos, Doxa and Marine Master, I suppose. While sub-13mm would be easier for everyday wear, the 2018's case has excellent proportions, IMO, in terms of its ratio of width to height, and a very manageable L2L. It looks right, to my eyes, and feels that way also.

I suppose we all have our preferences. I don’t dive, so my bezel is entirely ornamental. Today I went with the “Ray Donovan” and this is a great fit. Much thinner than the 2018 SMP and slides smoother under my cuff.

What year is your SMP?

I have 6.5 inch wrists and i bought this watch specifically for the bracelet. Go figure.
