2018 Seamaster 300m - Rubber Strap Quality/Value

I was in the same boat as you. I ended up buying blue dial on rubber. However I do wish I had purchased it on bracelet so I can dress it up occasionally. So much so that I'm trying to hunt down a second hand bracelet.

Plus I have OCD about the watch fitting right, and the micro adjust for me is better than the more coarde adjustment of tang buckle between holes.

Hello!

I am debating the purchase of 300m in Blue. I have always been the type to buy on bracelet and then purchase straps after the fact, but I have been presented the chance to get one on the Rubber for a great deal (nib as well). This coupled with the fact that my plan was to buy the rubber eventually anyway for daily wear. I like bracelets as much as the next guy, but I find myself taking my watch off more when it has a bracelet when I'm sitting at my desk or something, or if i get sweaty, the watch and bracelet are heavy enough on my 6.5" wrist that it starts to slide around. I know the new bracelets have the micro adjust, but it happened to me old SubC with glidelock (I don't like making my watch too tight, so it slides with any amount of sweat present).

Anyone with the rubber strap have any comments?
Should I just hold off and wait for a deal to appear for one on the bracelet then purchase the rubber separate?

Thanks for any and all feedback!

The general advice is get the bracelet and buy the rubber strap later. Even if you don't use it, the bracelet is a valuable element of the watch. It's worth having.

My other comments is the bracelet is super comfy. I wear my '18 SMPc almost everyday and 95% of the time on the bracelet. The micro-adjustment is great. The only thing I don't like is the rattle of the clasp.

Has anyone of you paired this new rubber with the older SMPc case?

I don't have a direct link, but I saw a comment that someone had done this and it fit just fine.

Just switched back to the rubber from the bracelet yesterday -- it really is supremely comfortable. Love the bracelet for the looks and heft but in terms of wearability it's no contest for me, unlike a watch like the Pelagos, which makes much more sense to me on the bracelet.

Does anyone know the reference numbers for the blue rubber strap and corresponding clasp? I have the blue and am considering getting the rubber for it. I just want to find the right parts to search for.

As an aside, I also have the black on rubber and LOVE it. Super comfy to say the least. Is there still a rapid shortage on these? I recall last year when I was looking for the blue rubber and clasp, there was some some crazy wait which discouraged me from looking at the time...

Has anyone try to fit the rubber strap to an older version of Seamaster 300m, e.g. 2254?

Just to answer my own question, the local AD managed to fit the new Omega rubber strap on my 2254, and i love it!!! 😀 normally i change straps myself, but here i didnt want to risk buying and then not able to fit. So i dont know how easy it was to fit the strap, i can check it out later at home.

Looks great...i just sold mine and honestly that was hard, and I had a bracelet on it and it was good and still would recommend that you get it on every now and then.....it wears really well, but that strap is nice! Enjoy!

Very nice fit to the sword-hands. My only gripe about the strap is that the fixed keeper's positioning means I have to sort of bend and feed the tail in, which may weaken it at that point, but overall it's been terrific, and has made this SM300 my go-to for everyday and travel. Super comfy even in the hot heat and cold cold.

I dropped into this post out of curiosity, but you guys have now convinced me that the blue SMP300 I bought only a few months ago (on the SS bracelet) really needs to have the blue rubber strap as a daily wear option. Off to see my AD again..... hopefully as I bought the watch from them I might swing a discount on the rubber bracelet.

Good luck! If you were going to a Boutique I'd recommend picking up the Cologne too...its pretty dang good.

It’s a great strap, very comfortable. Only the first keeper has a metal skeleton, the second is just rubber but has a stay in it which locates into one of the strap holes.

Go for it, you won’t be disappointed!

More precicely in the last strap hole with the triangle !
Thats the design.

I'm interested as well, but switching to a grey NATO will have to do for now.

I had the choice between a rubber strap and the bracelet for my black dial 300m, chose the rubber strap and it elevates the watch makes it look even more gorgeous, I never was a fan of seamaster bracelets, they came across to me as albatrosses and weighed the whole thing down instead of complimenting and lifting it to another level.

This is one area Omega has alot of work to do to catch up with competitors improving their bracelets (especially seamaster ones) in both design and quality.

Agree about the strap -- looks and eventually comes to feel like part of the watch, IMO, in a way the bracelet never really did for me. I have a few other divers, including a Tudor and a Doxa, where the bracelet seems much more a part of the watch. Not sure it's just weight, since the Doxa bracelet is pretty solid and hefty, yet is integrated and comfortable in a way the SMP just wasn't for me.

No biggie, since the rubber strap is available, if pricy, but this may be one of those rare cases where the old adage "buy on the bracelet, add the strap" isn't so compelling, except in terms of ease of resale perhaps.

Agreed, initially I was heading for bracelet over strap but my AD has them both and the black strap seamaster 300m just looked so much better! they even had the black strap with the White dial 300ms and those looked gorgeous as well. the straps just framed and complimented the watches so much better than the bracelet.

Just picked up a new Blue Seamaster on bracelet, found an OEM rubber strap and will likely wear it on that most of the summer. From the pics I have seen it suits the watch well and is a perfect blend,

Good call. Not sure, but the Omega Boutiques may still be shipping parts and accessories, might be worth giving them a shout.

It completely changes the look of the piece, especially with the grey dial. Others have pics readily available, I don't, sorry.

EDIT- I was wrong, I do!!!
