This year I was very ill disciplined

Bought 3 Zeniths in a short space of time

And developed an unhealthy obsession with time only watches with subdials, both vintage and modern

I promise to be more disciplined in 2018. Right after that last manual wind Certina comes in...

Hi All

My foray into buying Vintage Watches has been a bit of a Curates Egg - I think it can be divided into two parts; Pre joining OF/T4AP- it’s a miracle I even survived and Post OF/T4AP- the purchases have improved if only via leeching off of the Jedi like skills of others.
In order of purchase

::facepalm1:: Badly bitten on eBay - sold as parts- I still wake up at night in a cold sweat over this one

::rimshot:: A beautiful watch, one of my best buys, but it didn’t work for me - now sold

::facepalm1::::facepalm1:: Condition? Erm frightening. Sold

::rimshot:: Nice and original - Luck or judgement? a bit of both!

::psy::

::rimshot::

::rimshot::Another beauty that wasn’t quite me -sold

::rimshot::

::psy::

::psy:: A long hunt for this one - production numbers were fairly low. A real favourite

::psy:: I love these last two - if I do decide to form a proper collection. This is where I would fish.
Affordable, a seemingly infinite variety of variations, Patinate attractively and from a real golden age for Omega.

::psy::

I’ve really enjoyed my time here on the OF, it’s been a real pleasure. I’ve met some great people, seen and handled some incredible watches, hell i’ve even learnt a few things too - thanks for having me and for sharing the passion and knowledge.

See you next year

Nathan

Bought this year (chronologically):

One final watch i bought (from Matt) is scheduled to arrive at the beginning of the new year.

And i sold a total of 5 watches this year, including the above pictured Megaquartz 2,4MHz electric blue.

Like the dot at the end of a sentence or like (not quite as special as, but...) "Her Majesty" at the end of "Abbey Road", my fitting end to the year is this period correct box i added to my 145.012-67, yesterday:

More on this watch here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/wai...5-012-67-to-arrive-the-pics-are-now-up.29399/

Enjoy the last hours of the year! And a happy 2018 to everyone! 😀

Congrats on an incredible find! A grail for the 30 mm collector. Please add me to the "dibs" line although you would be crazy to ever part with that watch. 😀

2017 ended up with a watch lost in the damn USPS system travelling for it's 7th day on a 30 mile final leg journey from close to home after having traveled halfway around the world in half of that time!
Believe me, I am more than half-way pissed!

From now on, I am vacationing around the world, conducting watch business as I go! Screw these shippers!

Not much going on in 2017 watch wise for me, mainly sold.

Bought in 2017 and sold in 2017

Tin tin - did not gel with me
X-33 - I love the idea of a grab and go watch, but it can't compete with Gemini 4, ck2998, Ed White, etc

Bought a 1989 LE speedmaster to finish off my decades collection.

What do I expect in 2018?

I'm thinking I'm going to sell down the collection, at least 4-6 watches that get no wrist time will get sold.

I am still looking for a gold speedmaster. And I'm going to try and find a blue dial Blancpain FF.

Once those goals are complete, I'm thinking it is time to move on to other interests.

Famous last words....

2017 was a quality year. 😎

I bought to my GF her first omega vintage

I bought myself my first zenith 😀from @chunkythebulldog

And I bought myself my first SMP ceramic.
Looking back was a great year, with some turnover, some keepers and personal milestones celebrated with watches.

Tonight’s choice is the SMP and a magnum bottle of sparkling Italian wine.😀😀

Wish to all the members of OF a sparkling 2018!

They are cool...it was my goal of 2016 to find one, they don't pop up often.

It's been a year of consolidation for me - with life necessitating that money be pulled out of the hobby to fund slightly less interesting, but essential things - and the need to think through what I have, what I want, and what I really can let go without much fuss, has proved helpful.

New things of note:

1964 Seiko Sportsman Seahorse

1969 Omega flightmaster 145.013

2017 Nomos Club Campus Nacht

And one which will be mine... once Oris work out where the one they allocated me is (this is a press model):

2017 Oris Diver 65 Movember Limited Edition (1/1000)
