Over priced and over polished

In addition, it's a Moonwatch. But if you can go see it in person, I think it would be great for you to do so.

My advice? Figure out which speedy(s) ref you actually want, because there are a ton of good looking speedies out there. THEN start asking for advice on which are the best options.

How about a fake MoonSwatch?

Two birds/one stone.

I venture one opinion and y'all can't help yourselves; well I apologise for derailing a genuine thread with a genuine view.

As if you didn't know the reaction you would get with your 'opinion'. Please. You knew exactly the reaction, which is the definition of a troll.

@Scarecrow Boat
Yeah, I saw that- but I can't imagine someone with this set of beliefs would be happy wearing a watch that regularly started "hey, that's the watch that went to the moon!" type conversation. We look at our watch so often as well, it would be a constant reminder.
I'm trying to think of a good parallel and can't come up with anything that isn't potentially offensive, and having difficulty.

To be fair, I own three moon watches and have never had this conversation with someone that notices my watch. I rarely have people notice my watch to start with. However, I do enjoy the watches because of their history with the moon and space travel and have started that conversation.

That's an excellent point RE: conversation. Nobody has noticed my SMH, barring my wife and children, who helped me select it.

To your second statement about enjoying because of history... 100%. I don't own a speedy yet but that heritage would be tied up somewhere in my mind every time I looked at it, and I would enjoy that.

One man's opinion on a relatively benign subject shouldn't be upsetting others just because it differs. As for dissonance, i don't think there is any, i'm happy that to get a kick in the right direction from the learned forum memebers regarding watches, but must respectfully stop short of taking any astronautical advice from any of them at the same time.

In my experience, when you dig a little deeper into people who have such irrational beliefs, you often find that they have a bunch of other irrational beliefs that are a lot less benign. So personally, I don't plan to provide helpful advice on your purchase, and hopefully you will just fade away.

Yeah, the Apollo 11 moon landing was faked. Since it went so well, they decided to do 6 more fake missions and threw in a fake aborted mission (Apollo 13) for giggles. So proud of the thousands of folks involved in the Apollo Program to keep quiet about what really happened.

I hadn't stopped to think that Omega may be missing out on lots of moonwatch sales to conspiracy theorists, flat Earthers and the like. I wonder how they can best market to this part of demographic?

The majority watches are round, which is a subliminal way to force us believe that the Earth is round too. I demand a square Speedmaster.

You are of course wrong here, nobody said the earth is a square disc, it is clearly a round disc. The culprits here are The Globemaster and everything from Ball watches.

Thank you Dan that's very generous of you, and the others that patted you on the back for your mordant comment. For the enthusiastic Omega neophyte, substantive character aspersions based on a difference of opinion are always highly valued and constructive.

This is like a first date that has gone seriously south.

Wait, hold up, you said on your Tinder profile that you liked Omega watches.

I can't help but feel partly responsible; I can but only apologise to all offended sensibilities.

I suspect every opportunity to "educate" the sheeple who believe we went to the moon is relished.

A vegan, a runner, and a moon landing denier all walked into a bar. How do you know?

They each told everybody in the place within 30 seconds of arriving.

Over priced and over polished

For example, here is a ‘22 3861 for $200 more than your link
https://omegaforums.net/threads/2022-speedmaster-hesalite-calibre-3861.156885/

I second just hanging out on the forum. Lots of speedies of all types, condition, and vintage pop up here at reasonable prices.

And, also I think many of us would advise you not to pinch pennies. If you're willing to drop $2-3K on a luxury watch... Why not spend ~$4K+ getting the model you actually want in good condition?
