Hi everyone - Omega newbie here.

I love the early 70’s Seamaster diver watches, and thought it would be cool to get one in my birth year (1972), if able to afford it.

Any suggestions as to where I should look and how much I might expect to pay?

Thanks in advance for any help!

A nice seamaster 120 but they are expensive and hard to find your exact year. Good luck.

Hello Mark and welcome.

There are very many different 1970's diver watches, ranging from the humble quartz which you can pick up for under €500, through to pro deep diver's watches which will be upwards of €5k for a good one.

You first need to narrow your field and decide which reference(s) and budget it is that you're after.

Thanks for the reply!

The reference number for the type I really like is : 166.137 - Cosmic 2000

Some pages from assorted 1972 catalogs, to give you a feel for what Seamasters might have been available at the time:

Here’s a good overview of the diver Seamasters.
I boxed in the ones you could probably find as a -72 model, but for this you need a serial of the watch your interested in to narrow it down for a specific year or two precision. Cosmic 2000’s aren’t from 1972, but at the end of the 70’ies.

And a few real world pictures...
That Darth Vader is just the epitome of cool! May I ask for dibs on it, my blue dial Jedi would love the company, if one can say so. 😀

How hard is it to find a Darth Vader these days and what is the market like on them?
I have always found them intriguing

as least as tough as resisting the dark side of the force.

My kids, who are both major Star Wars fans, have already got Dibs on the two 145.0023's

And that’s how it should be, passing it thru in the family. 👍 If you ever see another nice one out there, give me a shout. 😀

I don't think I've seen one for sale for 3 or 4 years now, they were always very difficult to find but now supply seems to have completely dried up.

Anakins are out there, not many a year, but they are to be found if you’re on a look out. Darth Vader’s, not seen one for long...

You've got a real nerve coming on this forum Corrigan!

Not only have you betrayed Jezza numerous times by dobbing him in to Big Suze for so called "betrayals", you've also treated Sophie like shit, absolute shit, and there's no excuse for that!

I hope Jeff comes along and punches you right on your big pointy nose.

And in answer to your question:

.....Any suggestions as to where I should look..................

I think you should have a good hard look at yourself Corrigan, and forget all about Sophe, she's too darn good for you!
