Hello all
New to the forum.
I have searched the pages before creating this post, so apologies if I'm going over old ground here.

I've picked up a nice vintage Speedy Pro (circa 1971) but it's on the wrong Omega bracelet.
Bracelet is 1469/811 with 812 ends (18mm).

Whilst I'm not that offended by the bracelet, will the 18mm ends sitting in the 20mm lug space and likely curve difference lead to the extra stress on the bars and could end up with the bracelet coming off?

I was going to stick the watch on a leather strap anyway but just thought I'd check if advisable to wear with wrong bracelet in the meantime?

All opinions welcome.
Regards

Nice watch!
These 812 end links should be 20 mm and should fit your watch. Unless they were filed down a bit, but thats difficult to see in the pictures.

These end links usually come on the 1479 bracelet, so they are swapped onto the wrong bracelet. The 1469 / 811 bracelet belongs to the Speedmaster Reduced.
The 1479 is popular, not so easy to find on the second hand market and can get expensive.

But no problem to wear your watch that way in the meantime. Just a cosmetic issue with the step between bracelet and end link.

A 1171 / 633 would be nice.

Thanks for info.
Yep, you are spot on.

Measured the 812 end links as 20mm. Correct.
My 1469 bracelet is 18mm at the join between end link & bracelet. See difference in my pic.
Your Speedy with 1479 looks spot on

Yes, I've seen a new old stock 1171/633 on Chrono24 but fella wants over £600 incl p&p.
The 1171/633 would be more appropriate for the age of the watch ... but not at £600!

I think I'll source a good quality leather strap in the short term & keep my eye open for a decent used 1171/633.
Thanks again for the info.
ATB.

Welcome @Ti22

If you're looking for a reasonably priced replacement bracelet, it's worth checking out Uncle Seiko: https://www.uncleseiko.com/store/c20/Omega.html

Here is a related thread: https://omegaforums.net/threads/need-input-for-speedmaster-bracelet-design.100804/

My 145.022-71 says "Hello."

Thanks for the signposting.
Uncle Seiko looks like a real option for a bracelet.
Still fancy a decent black leather rally strap though.
Need to do a bit more research.
Cheers.

Congrats and welcome - my 1971 says hello...

Mine is on a Rover Haven strap - great straps made by a good guy...

Omega rally strap on my speedy...

Oh yes, that's more like what I'm after.
The fitted shape around the case looks better than the original strap.

Is your rally strap from Omega?
Deployant or buckle?

Thanks for posting the link. That’s very interesting and I never considered astronauts would use anything other than the standard Omega bracelets not withstanding the Nato straps for over the spacesuits. I can see why people would want to put one of the JB bracelets on their Speedys to emulate that era and for something a little different and interesting. Personally, I find it really unattractive but TBH I don’t even use the 1171 bracelet because I don’t particularly like the look (or feel) of that either. I bought a modern speedy and opted for the leather strap over the bracelet and love the look of the rally strap on my old Speedy. I think my tastes are pretty conservative though 😀

These JB/Forstner bracelets wear extremely comfortable with minimal weight, hugging the wrist without being snug.

Hello TexOmega.
New bracelet fitted to my Speedy.
Thanks for advice.

Just need to find a reasonably priced Speedy triple date on a tired strap to marry to my unwanted 1469 bracelet.
It is like new and a shame to just lie in a box.
I feel an auction hunt coming on ....
