·Doesn’t get much classier than a two-tone Rolex Datejust! The reference 1601 is a legend, the perfect one vintage Rolex collection, or a must have to add to any larger collection - and this here is a killer example!
SERIAL NUMBER: 2,7XX,XXX
DATE: 1971
DIAL: The silver Sunburst dial is beautiful, with full and even lume plots. Even under a loupe, there’s barely any wear, just a clean incredibly well preserved dial. The lume on the hands has aged to the same dark cream color, a little bit of wear on the lume, but all original and all lights up evenly under UV.
CASE: The 36mm case is in great shape, with nice thick lugs, great brushing, and minimal light wear/scratches throughout. The solid gold bezel has some beautiful patina forming on the gold, signaling it hasn’t been polished - this, in my opinion, is how you want to find a 1601!
MOVEMENT: The Rolex automatic cal 1570 is working beautifully. Service history unknown but winds and sets perfectly, date changes over crisply, and keeps within about 9 seconds a day.
BRACELET: Comes on what I believe is its original two-tone, gold and stainless Rolex Jubilee bracelet, as seen by the 1972 date stamp (Rolex often sent out the watch and added the bracelet later, either at the dealer or as an option, so they’re usually within 6 to 12 months of the case.) Fantastic condition, full Jubilee will fit up to about an 8 inch wrist and as can be seen minimal stretch for a Jubilee of this age. Also has the large Rolex crown clasp which I LOVE!
ACCESSORIES: Watch on bracelet only.
PRICE: About as low as you’ll find a stellar 1601 at $3795 and that will include 2 day fully insured shipping through FedEx anywhere in the US.
Payment via Venmo friends and family, Zelle, Wise, or Bank wire.
No returns unless misrepresented and it absolutely will not be. I am a passionate long time watch collector, and I go above and beyond to make sure buyers are treated the way I want to be treated when I’m the buyer. Lots of feedback here and elsewhere to show that!
Sale only, no trades thanks.
Thanks for checking out this classic Datejust, and as always, thanks to OF for the space!
