Hi Bob, Hi Pam. That's a VERY popular watch among vintage Omega nuts like us. Looks pretty good too. Got one exactly like it myself - bought it from MSNWatch a couple years ago and wear it often. If you decide to sell the bracelet separately let me know.

Bob if you decide to sell the watch you could sell here with no hassle and get advice for a fair price. It looks in very good condition and it is the Chronometer version of this watch and that is very good as well.

We also don't charge eBay fees which is a bonus

Thank you all for the interest and yes, my goal is to sell it. Gotta admit, good provenance (sp?) since I bought the thing new. Again, just wear it for weddings and such and as mentioned earlier, for me, the crystal kinda sticks up and I'm forever scratching it, unlike my Tag diver. Just curious, a shop here in Chicago "Old Father Time" told me to wear it or sell it as a mechanical automatic should keep running. True or was he just trying to sell me one of those auto winders for the dresser?
Guess the next thing is any suggestions on price and do I post on the For Sale forum here? Also, would be nice if someone interested could inspect before paying to avoid future confusion. Is there any methodology to that with collectors that is safe for both buyer and seller? That's kind of why I was nervous about ebay.
\Thanks again,
bob

Generally speaking paypal is the safest way to go even though there are small fees involved, ship the watch via something trackable and reliable, USPS express or FedEX and you're doing well. And yea by all means post a FS ad on the for sale forum here, just read the instructions regarding posting requirements first to keep everything in order and away you go!

I think you're on to him. A quote by watchmaker/member omega564: "If you own a vintage Ferrari would you leave it running in the driveway?".

Wonderful information, you guys obviously appreciate the brand. I'll shortly post for sale however guess I'm back to the original value question. Again, I sense you folks are serious and knowledgeable about these watches so what do you think. Go a little high like 1200 and best offer, a grand firm or????? Maybe someone can offer a realistic range?
Thanks, bob

1200 or best offer in my opinion, 1200 is retail pricing and is on the very high side, but if you're talking offers give it a couple weeks then take the best offer

1200 is too high for the watch. If you want to maximize your audience, I suggest taking closer pictures of the front of the watch to better clarify the condition of the case. It appears to have been polished and while it looks to have been a nice job, it is hard to tell unless there were closer pictures of the front. The back of the watch looks fine. Also, the collector will typically want pictures of the movement as well as the inner caseback.

Thanks, thought 1200 was high but thought I'd get an offer of a grand and good to go. Regarding pics, face is as good as the day I purchased but will ask wifey to try again. Any suggestions for movement/caseback pics? Should I have a pro do?
thanks

The front is more for the case rather than the face (dial). The key here is if the watch was indeed polished and refinished as I suspect, to what extent was it done? I could also be mistaken and the case may not have been polished significantly but it is difficult to tell with pictures that far off. It has to be closer and of course focused. Put the camera in macro setting (if it is a point and shoot one) and take the picture where there is a lot of light - like beside an open window or sliding glass door.

gotcha, will give it another go before posting for sale-if it was polished and refinished it was gnomes going into my USN cigar box while I slept. James & Sons charged for a cleaning, new crystal, leather band and a new stem and that was probably 10 years ago. Seems like it was pretty inexpensive at the time. What do you think about the back of the watch? Do I need a special tool or???
thanks, bob

Back looks good. Ideally you should have pictures of the movement as well as the inner caseback but if there is any risk to scratching the watch by doing so then I would rather the watch not be opened. Servicing or cleaning of a watch typically included polishing the case unless instructions are given not to do so. You might want to take pictures of side views of the watch as well while you are at it. Keep in mind this is a watch that is not difficult to find so in order to get top dollar for it the condition has to be excellent (before polish not after polish!).
BTW, your existing photos are too overexposed so much so that the details of the watch and bracelet are washed out.

Yeah, I'll pass that overexposed stuff on to my wife of 38 YEARS who took the pics!!!!!! I'll be the one to be "washed out"

I think the photos are fine. However a darker background would allow more detail to be viewed.

Thanks again for all the info. Got a mother in law hospitalized so trouble with added pics from the wife. Did stop in James & Sons and they said they just "cleaned it up a little" exterior wise. Looks to me like they might have cleaned up the bracelet more than the watch as the clasp looks better then I recall. I'm just gonna list in the FS forum and ask a grand. As my son's not interested and if it doesn't sell I'll just wear for dress as occasions arise.
Thanks again for all the info. P.S. Should I list as a 751 movement?

Hi guys-I'm back!!!!!!!!!! Kinda forgot about the Omega after all the previous posts as mother in law moved in, passed away last March etc etc. Stupid Golden Retriever broke a stud in the band of my old Tag Professional 200 last Xmas Eve and dug out the Seamaster while getting new bracelet (350 bucks, by the way for Tag nos-crazy!)-can anyone advise how I might transfer all this info to a "for sale" area of this site? I'd like to get 1200 with all inspection help I can offer prior to sale without thinking I'm getting ripped off. Would be willing to have watch inspected, certified whatever by ??? before sale.
thx
