Hey!

Looking for some advice on this watch please. The back looks faded but I'm not sure if that's wear or a polishing. Looks like a clean watch to me but I can't see the movement. Is being sold by a shop in the uk.

Really appreciate your advice please.

From my research so far of watches from this time, it looks like a 166.022 which I think comes with the cal.565 movement.

Cheers,
Andy

Everything looks faded in that lightbox. I would ask for some better photos under natural light and you should get a better idea on the caseback.

I'd personally look for a better example, but it ultimately depends what you are looking for. The dial looks like it has been repainted and the whole case has been refinished. If it has been serviced and priced well, then it may be a good option for the average enthusiast.

Originally, the back of the case was not totally brushed on these, so if the seamaster engraving is fading then it has likely been polished off.

Thanks for the advice. Seems like a fair price to me from the research that I've done and I can return it for the price of postage till the end of January so decided I am happy being an average enthusiast 😀 I will check it out when it arrives and possibly take some closer photos in better light.

@AndyR these are front loading watches so you need special tool to get to the movement - it states this on the caseback. Which I'm guessing is why there's no movement pic. Yes, should be 565 with quick set date - your example looks OK to me, albeit under less than ideal lighting. Here are some pics of my old one, also bought from UK dealer - hope these help for reference:

Awesome photos and watch! I will use this as a point of reference when I get my hands on this one. I notice that the crown is more flush on yours but that could simply be the fact that they had it pulled out. Will let you know how I get on! Thank you for the great point of reference!
