Ok, not AS bad.... Just need to demagnetize it and test again.

If it was heavily magnetized, depending on how strong you demagnetizes is, it may require a few cycles to get it right. I would suggest doing it a few times, and then show us a photo of the balance at rest, focused on the balance spring.

You have a very uneven trace, and a huge beat error so there’s plenty of work to be done.

If that is at full wind, bad.

Full wind and I ensured that all the jewels were lubricated and cleaned. I'm open to ideas.... Is this way out of specs? Going to research.

amplitude is way too low, a simple check for now, can you remove the seconds pinion tension spring, and seconds pinion and measure again?

while i was typing you did the second pic, i am not compelled to believe the amplitude on the second reading.

I have removed the seconds pinion tension spring and seconds pinion. What angle should this watch be at when I test it? Do I physically rotate the timegrapher stand to a certain angle? I have 49 degrees in the setting...setting up timegraph now.

Here's the settings when I move the watch from 180. Still learning this part too. How bad is it?

It is running so badly that the timegrapher can't even measure the rate error. It's also not good that the amplitude is fluctuating wildly in every photo you posted. Can you do what Al said above?

I did. Seconds pinion tension spring and seconds pinion removed.

amplitude is a lot more healthy with the tension spring removed, still low but it looks like your seconds tension spring might need some adjusting.

before any of that though, seeing a clear photo of the hairspring would either confirm or rule out a lot of things.

Want a picture of the tension spring (on the balance wheel, correct?) with it installed or uninstalled? Just to be safe going to look at ordering a new balance and spring.

let the mainspring down, and take a photo of the balance with the hairspring in focus for now, trying to see if the hairspring has been distorted or if its sticking together with oil or still magnetised etc.

i would hold off on buying a new balance complete for now, those are expensive and we still dont know the root cause of your fault.

hard to tell from the photo but the hairspring looks a bit dirty, if there is oil or something on the coils and its causing them to stick to each other as it expands and contracts that will make your rate pretty crazy too. i had wanted to see it all in situ to see distortions as less obvious ones cant be seen when the bottom pivot is not constrained. I assume that is what Al was looking for too.

I can reinstall and take a picture if you'd think that would be a better determination. I can also run it through the cleaning process again.

installed would be better, right now it looks like the coils are a bit closer together on the side opposite the stud holder, but i also dont know if its just the whole thing tilting over etc.

also can't tell if the safety roller has been a bit crushed or if that's just a strange reflection, but if it has and is now scraping against the mainplate or the shock protection etc. that is also going cause issues.

in all cases i think a cleaning wouldn't go amiss
