1958 Seamaster: value?

Hi all, first of all: sorry about this. I hate drive-by valuations as much as anyone. However I need to fund some repairs and am thinking of selling this watch but have no idea what it's worth. Details: Seamaster, cal. 501 (s/n 16557xxx). Dennison case has 50120K on the side of the 7 o'clock lug (it's a cal. 501 so might say "501 2 OK"?). Really nice original dial, signed crystal, crown is wrong (should be a clover leaf type but I actually prefer this; easy fix anyway). This seems to be the model that the reissue was based on (although this is smaller at at circa 34mm with 18mm lugs). I love this watch but never wear it, so . . . .

I was thinking £850. Does that sounds about right? NB this is not a stealth sales post, just a genuine inquiry. (I took the watch in trade some time ago so asking what I paid is somewhat moot. Hence this post.)

Put in on ebay and you will find out the worth.
Look on there for actual sales and you will know what it will sell for give or take a little.
You can then list it on OF.

That one picture isn’t enough for an evaluation, but assuming the dial is actually nice, the spots etc are on the crystal only, that the movement looks very good and that it hasn’t been polished much I‘d say 500£ is a more realistic number. Relumed hand, wrong crown, very plain configuration are limiting factors.

Another problem is that the watch is located in UK - so foreign (EU) buyers must pay taxes.....and custom-hassle

Obviously that’s also a plus if the buyer is in the UK

I think you would have to be extremely lucky to get 850 GBP, especially if not serviced. I like the dial configuration, but the Dennison case, the relumed hand, and the crown will hold it back. Maybe you could compare to recent sales of similar Swiss references in similar condition.
