I've always wanted a Speedmaster but always pushed it to the back burner for another Seamaster. After three Seamasters I finally pulled the trigger.

After a few hours I'm totally in love with this watch. I especially like the enamel dial. It's so impossibly black with a perfect amount of shine.

It came on a stainless steel bracelet with screws and a retro engraved Omega logo.

I know some won't approve but don't feel ready to wear (and scratch) the bracelet so I requested a black NATO strap to wear until I'm ready.

The box is a beast. The bag must have weighed 25 lbs.

The outer box is black with a retro Omega logo embossed at the top. The inner box is wood with a beautiful Speedmaster and Hippocampus at he tip. The front has three engraved plates.

The inside is lined with leather. The top tray holds the watch and the lower tray holds a selection of tools and a black alligator strap with deployant clasp.

Under the lower tray were the usual certs including the Chronometer Certificate.

The outer box also had a lower compartment with a retro polishing cloth, a guide describing the included tools, and a hard cover book commemorating 50 years of Speedmaster.

Oh man I love it! What a great watch! A speed master is my next for sure, I've just started finally collecting omegas.

What a great piece that is.

"The distance from Switzerland to the moon..."

Is it that different from the distance from Australia or Iran or Chile? Why not say Bien? Or room 3 on level 1 of Omega HQ where this box was made? And is that during the day or night? What prt of the lunar cycle? Which season?

Hi need your advise .
I just ran into one price is Aus$4500 .The only thing putting me off is it comes with no papers or box.The enamel dial looks great in the sun light.
Is it worth the price,I have looked on the net but nothing comes without a box and papers.

That price works out to $3420 US. That's in line with current resale prices for Speedy Professionals. The inside edge of the Tachymeter bezel looks slightly discolored but that might just be some dirt. No chips, which is nice. I assume the lines I see on the crystal are just reflections. It might be a couple hundred dollars high in price for lack of a box and/or papers, but if you intend to use it as your daily wear it's not a big consideration IMHO. Overall I'd say the price is right. Not a screaming bargain but not a ripoff price either.

Mind you may still find brand new one after some research amongst OB. It comes around 9 900 eur VAT inclusive. Be careful what you would pick up for AD4500. It might be worth the amount you are paying for it. Even used ones fetch more than 6000 eur easily.

Well said. Price seemed a bit low to me as well.

This is a model I always found fascinating, but hesitated to buy one.
Last week the fascination popped up and I asked my A.D. in Vienna about it. I was surprised to hear that there is still one available - # 1227, new from Omega, 11 years after release date!
Unfortunately, the official retail price went up in the meantime and is now 9800.- (including 20% VAT). This is definitely too much for me.
(I guess this must be the last one worldwide ...)

Love it! As far as I know this is the only Speedmaster ever produced with an enamel dial, right?

Sounds just like my story. I was 100% Seamaster for a decade or more. I used to dive quite a bit so dive watches held a nostalgic place in my heart. Never gave the Speedmaster a thought. Why would I? I mean the Earth is 70% covered with water, right? Then I re-discovered my love of the Space Program, NASA, and the ISS. All the talk of getting to Mars brought me back around. Took a gander at the Speedmaster line and wondered why I'd written them off. Picked up one and never looked back.
