From my collection I have a very good looking EternaMatic caliber 1422UD. The case is in all stainless steel with the desirable hidden crown design. The dial and hands are in excellent condition and all original.
The Eterna automatic movements (hence EternaMatic) are known to be some of the finest designed movements of its time. The caliber 1422UD in this watch was also issued as a chronometer grade movement (I own one myself).

Case: Very good condition with small signs of careful use. All stainless steel. It measures 35 (without crown) x 42 x 10 mm.18mm lug width.

Caseback: Screwdown back.

Movement: High grade Eterna caliber 1422UD running with ok amplitude (205 degrees) and -15sec/day. Date quickset working nice and crisp. Service history unknown.

Dial: Lovely silver/champagne dial with silver markers in a very good and unrestored condition.

Hands: Original (unrestored) silver dauphine hands.

Crystal: Excellent condition.

Crown: Unsigned/hidden.

Strap: Dark brown leather strap (generic / croc pattern) in “as new” condition.

Price: EUR325 PayPal fees inclusive.

Shipment: The watch and I are located in Norway. I will be helpful to assist in keeping import taxes at reasonable levels. Please contact me for shipment options.

Does the serial number date this watch to a specific year?

I have a list of serial numbers vs years for Eterna. Had not checked up to now, but the 57xx movements are listed as being from 1969 so thats my best guess!

Thanks Northernman - I'm hunting a birth year watch for my father but this one's a decade too young!

Good luck with the sale, though. Beautiful Eterna.

Is that the 17J movement?
I am not certain. I can not see it mentioned on the movement itself. They came in 17 and 21 jewel versions. With Omega the lower jewel count was mainly exported to the US due to some weird tax rules. This one is coming from Scandinavia originally as far as I know.
I am no watchmaker, but I do think the added jewels would be in the auto winder and hour wheel?
Maybe someone else can inform us?
