Up for sale is very nice, clean and sharp Excelsior Park with the revered inhouse EP4 movement. As you may know Excelior Park predominately supplied other brands with their quality movements, e.g. Gallet, Zenit, Girard Perregaux, Sinn, etc. A few were brought to market with their own brand name, such as my example.
Dial: What I believe to be an original non-luminous dial with applied markers. The dial is virtually spotless. There seem to be two specks of dust around the right sub-dial at 15 and 25 only visible under a magnifier. You may wonder about the "T" on the dial. It's not uncommon that EP and Gallet dials feature this "T", the meaning of which escapes me though.
Case: Now the interesting part. The watch comes with a display case back. Given the characteristic bevels on the case back also seen on other EPs and Gallet (compare with the full steel case back of my Gallet in comparison), makes me believe the original case back was turned into a display back. I tracked the watch to two previous owners and both said they had received the watch like that. The EP chronographs came in full steel cases and chrome plated cases. The information would usually be on the inner case back, which for obvious reasons is not available in this instance (not to write "case"). However, according to my watchmaker the case ought to be of full steel as the micro scratches don't reveal any brass from underneath. The case condition is excellent with sharp facets on the lugs.
Dimensions: 35.5mm diameter without crown, odd lug width of 18.6mm (but I had no problems fitting a soft leather 19mm strap), 44mm lug to lug.
Movement: EP-4 movement that runs and sets as it should including the chronograph functions. The pushers are firm. However, it has not been serviced in my possession nor do I know the service history. With my untrained eye the movement looks very clean and the screws seem even untouched.
Crystal: Some minor scratches.
Crown: unsigned, but believed to be original.
Terms: Watch is sold head-only. The price is CHF 1390 plus shipping. I accept payment by Wise or bank transfer. Returns are accepted if grossly misrepresented. The watch and I are located in Switzerland.
