1861 or 3861

All, after saving and also selling some watches, now in a position to add a standard speedy pro to my collection.

Now that the new 3861 has been out for a few months, what are peoples thoughts on whether the better buy is a 1861 or 3861 - both are still available new at my local AD and OB albeit the 1861 states limited availability.

I am still uncertain as to which way to go - any help / thoughts / advise welcome please?

If I had your choice I would go for the 3861 on the basis that I feel that every Speedmaster after the 361 movement is an imitation of the original therefore why not get the most modern movement as it should (in theory) be the best.

Also, to be fair, I like a DON and stepped dial etc as much as anyone = faux originality!

Good to have the chance to chose, enjoy your decision and result. Wear the hell out of either and forget future valuations.
