3861 Speedy….. can I retrofit a 1861 Bracelet?

Hi!

I’m new so please be gentle!

I have a 3861 Speemaster Moonwatch. Bought 2 years ago. But I’ve grown to hate the bracelet. It spends more time on an Omega nato which is not the look I like.

I absolutely love the older iteration bracelet. The chunkier 1861?

My question is, will the older 1861 fit? I’ve searched here and I “think” it will but before I spend £500 on a used one, I just want to double check!?! Is there anything else I need to make it work (shorter springs?)

Also, any pics of someone that has done it would be grateful.

If it does and anyone is in the market for an excellent 3861 bracelet let me know! 🤣

I saw that. Wasn’t it a slightly different bracelet? It’s what almost made my mind up about doing it but I needed the comfort blanket of someone on here telling me it’ll definitely work!!
It's just the clasp is different, the bracelet and endlinks are identical to 1861.

Why would you downgrade...
Matters of taste I suppose. I don’t see it as a downgrade, I have larger wrists and I just don’t like the look or fit of the latest bracelet.

I just a need bit more reassurance…..

This is the bracelet I’m looking to get, but it seems to have to protruding lugs just above the bar spring notch?

Will it still fit?

Pic attached…..

Yes those are just for hugging the lugs at the bottom;

The 1861 bracelet will fit your 3861 Speedmaster Moonwatch. You will need shorter spring bars, but that's it. You'll probably need to get new ones as they are not the same size.

So final question…. How do I list my original 3861 bracelet on here?! It says I don’t have permission to access to post. Is it a paid for thing?!

You need 200 posts to be able to post an item for sale on these boards.

You could try a swap plus cash. Somebody might go for that. Try reddit's watch Exchange, maybe watchuseek. Other option is to hunt down the 1861 bracelet first, get that and then be a contributing member here patiently for a while get to know some folks, then post your 3861 bracelet for sale. It'll probably go quick wherever you wind up listing

I’m waiting on delivery now! 🤣 Impatiently I may add.

I do have another question…… what spring do I need? I had a look at the other posts about this, some say 1.6mm and some say 1.8mm.

Can anyone tell me if these will be ok? -

20mm springbars for steel bracelet have partsno 068ST2207, I'm pretty the 1861 and 3861 cases use the same ones. They are cheaper at an OB/AD 4$€£ each.

It would be cheaper to buy them from an Omega Boutique. You can also purchase 1.5 mm rhick spring bars from Uncle Seiko if those don't work
