Thanks for your comments, that’s really interesting.

When you say the dial is not that nice on option 1 what do you mean specifically? Sorry for me I can’t tell so it’ll be helpful to know what to look for. And how can you tell the hands and crown have been replaced? Sorry, I’m sure these are stupid obvious questions to you collectors, but I’m really keen to learn.

There are many details to check and sometimes you need some experience to know what you have to look at. And asking questions is the best way to get there. 😀

I'm not an expert. I am just telling you what I think about the question you had asked.

Regarding the dial, I think that the condition of the tritium spots is very important. The ones of option #1 are very tired and partially faded, while they appear to be present and nice on the dial of option #3. Well, after all, this is just my personal opinion.

Looking at the hands, apart from the different lume used on the hands (superluminova vs. tritium), the minute hands of #1 and #3 have different shapes. Option #3 has the original tip at the end of the minute hand, #1 has not.

Referring to the crowns, they are differently shaped and have different logos on them:

Hope that helps...

I forgot option #4: Take your time, do some research and learn more about this watch before you make your decision. Option #5 will surely come along... 😉

All great pointers and observations.

for the one quoted above, though, I’m not sure it’s easy to say whether the shape is indicative: these came with a few different hands, at different times

Agreed. I was judging by the watches I've owned myself. Thank you for your correcting input. 😀

Excellent, thanks for taking the time to explain your observations. This is very helpful indeed. I had no idea about ‘tritium spots’ and never would have noticed until this was pointed out. Option #3 seems like a pretty good option then after all.

I guess if I can find an original bracelet for it later down the line then it could be the one.

Thanks for all the advice guys, this is amazing! I feel like I’ve learned a lot already just from this discussion 😀

none of the two is OSA dial.

Sorry what does OSA mean? And are you referring to option 1 and 2?

OSA refers to the writing: Omega Seamaster Automatic or OAS: Omega Automatic Seamaster. The site www.calibre1040 is a very good source.

kind regards Max

To answer your question about service costs. I paid 350 Euros for a full service including the work on the case, new crystal and crown in Vienna, Austria.

Here are before/ after pics:

176-007 has been scholarly researched and studied by one of our experts here at OF. Very informative as per link shared. Here's an OSA model.

Thanks for sharing! Yes I read up more about the different dials. Now I’ve seen it I do really like the OSA configuration, it looks more balanced.

The dial is fine. It is most commonly seen on the Yachting Chronograph, ref. 176.010..

given the rarity of the yachting, I might think it’s instead most commonly seen here:

My observations of the dark blue Yachting dial, which I call I1, show it is most frequently seen in 176.010:

But you're right about the silver version (I2):
