Money is an issue as far as spending more on one i would source a standard bracelet down the road and a fat font bezel. Im thinking maybe the 5513 if i can only get one its just that they both are around the same price range

I have lug shots and the 10 oclock plot looks to be the crystal but i have yet to ask about that particular spot on the dial, 5513's are getting quite expensive and this one seems to be down my alley if i can make a little project out of it perhaps

You will think I am crazy...but there is an L serial 5513 with what appears to be a great 5512 dial on ebay...I bet you can get for well under that $6500 number...

The one that Kirill has is ok, but with what you are talking about spending on it with bracelet and insert, you are betting off saving your money and waiting for a better example.

I think i see that one on there, wouldint the incorrect dial hurt the value ? Or would it really matter since the 5512 is rare anyways. Would want soemthing that i can wear but also be confident it will go up in value with the others. You are right as far as spending just as much on the 5513 by the time im done

It is a bastard, but at the right price, might be ok...you can source a correct 5513 dial for not much as they have indices.

That watch correct will be a $5500+ watch all day long as the case looks pretty strong.

The 5512 dial is worth $1k+...personally, that 5513/12 might be a good bang for the buck at theach right price given that theven dial is 100%

Again, unless you personally know the seller, I suggest doing lots of due diligence.

I didn't realize who the seller was at first. Actually, since we know the seller I would REALLY suggest doing double the normal due diligence!

While not jumping in the fray in regards to the seller, he does get some nice watches, but as with any purchase of this size, it is critical to ask every questions and thoroughly vet the watch.

Me too - indirectly. Fixing some of the watches "running within specs" that owners have sent to me that lost 10 minutes in 2-3 hours, and wouldn't run for 24 hours even...have one in the shop right now as a matter of fact.

Many sellers are out there just to sell a watch, not concerned with period correctness, etc.
It is unfortunate that NooBs do not know the difference and only learn after the fact.
Not knocking this seller or others that practice the same way.
Good to see that people are actually asking BEFORE buying...because the other way, becomes an expensive lesson..

Fortunately I don't have to deal with him directly, just some of his distraught customers.

Up to the point where I saw who the seller is, I was going to say 5513 by a mile. Now, I say buy a nice new Seamaster reissue and call it a day.

They're like carrots and peas. Both iconic land fantastic to have as a pair. Many many vintage watch aficionados are naturally attracted to having both and many many have owned both at one point or another including myself.

Form a collector's point of view, I think it doesn't matter which one you get first. Take your time and buy the best examples possible. Today's prices have brought many horrible examples out on the market making it a huge mine field...

HOWEVER, if your bias is to wear your watches first and foremost as opposed to pure collecting, get a 5513. It's the definitive timeless and handsomest watch there is that can be worn in any circumstance. Some will argue that you can do the same with the Speedmaster but those people don't like to get wet! ::rimshot::

I concur. I am not an attractive wrist model. Kinda gross, actually.
