So, they didn't send it off to Omega, I guess.

I always appreciate your expertised insights.

May I ask what's going on here? Is there some long standing disagreement between you two?

To me, the dial fonts look fine but, the applied "Omega" has been damaged. @OMEGuy do you think the applied logo and symbol were removed to apply the cross hair? Just trying to understand what you think you are seeing.

I've checked. No, no ref or serial numbers, just a receipt for 'workmanship'. It cost 150, not 120 (my mistake earlier). The place in question is an Omega authorized dealer in Malta.
150 euros wouldn't buy you anything much at an Omega service centre. It sounds like you've given it to an Omega dealer who looked at it in house and just regulated the watch so, it would be worth clarifying if they stripped, cleaned and rebuilt the movement. If not, the parts will probably be wearing themselves out. It looks a nice watch and I hope you enjoy it.

Cheers, Chris

Thank You Chris. In fact I once had another watch serviced at Omega in Bern and it had cost a small fortune. I've taken your advice. Just written to the AD and asked for a full service record. The whole point of the service was to avoid what you rightly described. Thanks again.

Regarding the first bit, I'd be surprised if the cross-hairs were deceitfully applied. This watch had been lying in a drawer for decades. I think also the fuzzy-ish cross-hairs and dial defects are actually visual artefacts, the result of wear on the (correctly Omega-stamped) crystal.

The actual question is: which of the banned profiles that didn't come as far as the current one did start to piss of @efauser and others with good memory? Yes, you missed out on some awkward events here.

The actual question might also be: who contributes on this forum in a constructive way.

Probably the person that doesn't cry "REDIAL" every time a watch is posted...

I am not guilty that there are so many out there, but always open for discussion.

Actually, I wasn't clear as I don't think the cross hairs were applied later but, was trying to find out what @OMEGuy was commenting on. The applied logo appears to be damaged but, that's not a big issue for me.

I'd change the crystal as the tension ring is marked with corrosion but, then I'd also change the seconds hand. If you still have scratches on the crystal, which it appears you do, try polishing it with Polywatch and it will be significantly improved and show the dial much better.

As usual 😁😁. Intriguing!

Cheers, Chris

Welcome @Falzon

very nice Connie you have there.
yes, the Omega logo has been messed around with at some point (cack-handed watchmaker during historical service?) but otherwise the dial looks all correct.

Nice case and great 5-row BOR as a bonus.

The rusty seconds hand is absolutely typical of this reference (but I am surprised the furry bits weren’t at least cleaned off during service - which makes me doubt the service somewhat )

Thank You. Yes, I'll certainly try Polywatch. I did try toothpaste but the results were modest at best. Mind you, I don't mind a distressed crystal all that much. Part of the charm I suppose.

Thank You. This exchange has been really useful to me. In fact, the bracelet is my favourite bit - it's gorgeous, and silky comfortable.

Based on the many responses, I've approached the AD to ask for a detailed service report. I might even ask them to replace the seconds hand, assuming they can get their hands on one.
