This 5415 from 1949 just popped up on a Swedish auction site - looks a bit too good to be true, which normally means it is. However I cannot really find any faults in the dial, case, crown etc other than that is really clean. Thoughts?

I am intrigued by the hour and minute hands. Firstly, a combination of blue and silver hands is atypical. Secondly, they appear to have been re-lumed. Though the watch may be NOS, it does not appear to be untouched.

That would be a crazy thing to do, but I agree. Here is another from the same
batch and invoiced same date....

I don't think he was being ironic, just providing info. Not the same watch.

No, they are 11 units apart in the serial number. But they were sold to the
norwegian agent Hausammann on the same date 17/5-49 Witch BTW is our
Constitution Day

Regarding the "Swedish" watch above. Here is the link:

Hi @Briboxkit Since Omega Forums is read by a large number of non members, you may want to be aware your post is giving information which may help people who may not have known about of the auction. Members who may have been planning on bidding may find it inconsiderate, even though it’s not prohibited by forum rules. best regards

If anyone seeing a comment saying this watch is up for sale in Sweden, it is the most simple thing to find it, especially in this situation and for a person willing to pay this amount of money. Anyhow, comment deleted.

Edit:
Also, I would get your point if the watch it self was sold on a small auction house on the Swedish countryside. This is an auction house with attention internationally so I would not expect that my comment would put to much pressure on the price beeing pushed upward.

And finally, I find it far more important to give as many people as possible the opportunity to acquire such a lovely watch with such great historical importance rather than to a small group of people on a forum. So as long it's not a vialation of the forum rules, and for the reasons stated above, I can't really see where you are coming from. But anyway, already deleted so....

Current price is 90k SEK (about 9k EUR), plus buyers premium, but suspect this will go up beyond my price range unfortunately. Beautiful piece regardless, so good luck to whoever gets it.

Maybe @Radiumpassion has already saved/posted photos of this watch for posterity. I wonder if anyone has noticed other mismatched case-backs (with regard to lug number) on 5415s? Quite a few ref. 5699 seem to have them.

"Longines Extract from the Archives, tillverkad 15 juni 1949, levererad till Norge."

Yes, and it was not sold. The estimate was probably a little high due to
the wrong caseback?

Without the fee for the auction house I would have been game 😀
