Larry, have you ever seen an original dial 5699 with correct pushers go for less than 40k in the last 4 years? If so, please share. If not, then surely this is a steal?

I am regretting not bidding since I thought surely it will run away from me. Oh man, feeling the regret.

Don’t have a table of Sommatore sales handy, but have a vague recollection of one with a poor dial selling a year or so back for 20 plus. I recognize they are a grail for many, I bemoan not buying one years ago for a song when I had the opportunity, and I certainly was watching it with some interest. I didnt have chance to see more detailed photos of the dial and pusher, but for me the condition suggested a healthy discount. Do you know where the bidding stalled in November?

November had a $40,000 reserve including premium. Didn’t meet reserve. This one had a $30,000 reserve including premium. I think it just came down to price. Although I’m surprised in November when the economy was soaring and fear was not where it is today, it did not sell for 40k

A totally fake 13zn has just been sold on Ebay from Switzerland.

Nothing seems to be correct on this watch.

But what really confuses me is the movement - I saved a screenshot

I wasn't aware that there are already "clones" of 13zn movements in existence ::facepalm2::

What are your thoughts? Has anybody of you more information about these, where do they come from?

Stay healthy! Bildschirmfoto 2020-04-01 um 10.44.15.png

Very interesting. I imagine making a fully working 13ZN clone would be
a very costly affair. Could the above movement have been refurbished
    to get this strange look?

I think before jumping to conclusions it may be worth it to run this by Longines Brand Heritage to get an idea of the year and what type of watch this movement was in. The serial suggests that this is an extremely late 13ZN. I have a 30CH with a serial below that one. I also think this may be a pieced together movement which was stripped and then recoated or painted silver

of course this would be helpful but I personally don't ask the archive for watches that don't belong to me, unless I m interested in buying. Here I m definetly not interested in buying. This particular watch has nothing original....
I just wanted to share in order to know if somebody has seen something similar before.

I think many people will be looking at this thread in the future.

To codify the learning experience for 13zn collectors, including myself, could you (@Radiumpassion and @divetime ) explain what makes the movement fake? As opposed to just missing parts?

I have not said it's fake. I think it has a weird finish if you see my comparison above. And read offcourse...

I m not totally sure if it is a fake movement. I just wanted to discuss it here and get some other opinions. I m totally sure that all other parts of this watch like (dial, hands, case, crown) are fake. And this movement including the engravement "17 RUBIS" looks obviously very suspicious. In the context with all other components of this particular watch even more suspicous. May be possible that ian original movement was rusted deeply. So they grinded everything down (all geneva stripe decoration lost, depth of engravements lost, polishment of angles and tension springs lost) and resilvered it (very bady). Possible? What do we think about the poor looking 17 RUBIS? I checked Goldenbergers Longines book. None of the 41 published 13 zn has a 17 RUBIS engravement.
Looking forward to read other opinions here

Yes, I guess somebody got lucky with a metal detector. Very unusual multiscale
dial on that one, will be interesting too see if it surfaces again in a different configuration.

Incoming 13zn. Not perfect but I can live with that.
