··Thanks, mystery donor!Case should be French as movement bears an "M". Signature and other details closely resemble those found on 5415 dials that are seemingly correct. Not a 13ZN that attracts me.
Case and movement serial are matching too.
If the papers come back with France as the country of destination then those things begin to line up.
Agreed. Case serial number could have been added by anyone at any point.

Just to clarify, are you implying that the similarity between the "Longines" marking on the case-back and the logo from 1900 suggest that the serial number was likely applied in period?
I’m suggesting that the stamp inside the case back is unusual for the late 1940s, but if the watch was cased in France that may have been the only Longines stamp they had on hand. Anyone email Longines Brand Heritage the serial number yet or should we shoot off an email to them?
The stamp puzzles me. Below is another one from the late 1940's. Also below, it appears on a steel case bound for China in 1939.
What does the front look like? I’d love to see a Chinese market watch for that era!!!
Nice.... and interesting. Thanks for showing! Is it yours?
Redial or not?
Redial.
