Hello. Just took possession of a Speedmaster 145.022-71 (74 manufacture) which has a bracelet stamped 1171 and endlinks marked 633; along with the case these are all in very good condition.

My question is: does the genuine 1171 bracelet have a continuous taper where every single link is 0.5mm smaller than the previous link? Even on the removable links?

From what I can see, the smallest wrist this will fit on is about 7.5" - way bigger than my 6.75" wrist. Thanks for the help and if anyone wants to trade for a 1039/516 bracelet, please let me know.

It is not a continuous taper. My wrist is just a tad under 6.75" and my 1171 fits my wrist with all the extra links removed and 3rd hole from the smallest on the clasp.

I can remove 2 more links on the 6 o'clock end which will leave a difference in width to the last link that holds the clasp. On the 12 o'clock side, the tapering links prevent me from using all the micro-adjust holes; I can use only 3 or 4 without badly scratching the link sides.

I suppose there is a bit of rubbing on the clasp, but my bracelet is well over 40 years old. Any scratching that may have occured isn't noticable. All links are removed on the 12 and 6 ends. Here is a picture taken through my loupe.

No. All removable links are the same size.

Okay. I removed all the extra links and got it down to my 6.75" wrist using the 4th micro-adjust. It's a squeeze to get it inside the clasp but it works. If I sell to someone with a smaller wrist (have 2 friends interested already) then I'll have my watchmaker narrow the 1-2 links that have to fit inside the clasp.

Thanks again.

When you put it on put the watch head on your palm side and then turn it around when you get it on.

That looks to be a perfect fit. Watch looks awesome and ready for many years of use!

I also have the trapezoid 1171 and it fits my 6.5” wrist perfectly. I specifically chose to find the trapezoid logo because I prefer screw in pins vs pushpins.
