I’ve just visited an Omega boutique here in the U.K. and was told that there is indeed a price rise coming in the next couple of weeks for all model ranges.

Looking at the website and I think it just hit!

Basic Moonwatch now £6k. Sapphire sandwich now £6800. Ouch.

NTTD price seems the same as before interestingly. Maybe they can’t shift those. My mistake, that’s up too in fact.

Doesn't appear to be any change in US pricing. There was no price increase in February either.

Phew. Americans also didn't get hit with the PS5 price increase.

We're even closer to that 10k mark here in Canada...

FWIW, I paid just under 5k for mine in late 2019 from my local AD. Taxes in.

Yeesh.

Rolex only 500€ in 5 years (OP even less), including 32xx introduction.

Anyone know if CHF prices increase? I'm guessing the current price increase is due to FX devaluation of the GBP, EUR, CAD, and AUD.

I'm sure a lot of the increases are currency related but with inflation running hot at 10% companies are under pressure to increase prices to cover increased production costs (labor, energy, shipping, etc). It's a rare company that will continually eat those increases.

Over the past 3-4 years, in Canada at least, the price increases have significantly outpaced currency fluctuations. I put the numbers together a while back so won't repeat it, but it's something like 30% or even more In some models now over that time.

No doubt currency and inflation / rising costs of production are part of the equation, but I also suspect it's part of a brand strategy on the part of Omega to move steadily and relentlessly upmarket -- their increases have, for example, been far higher than Tudor and some other Swatch brands like Longines and even Blancpaiin / Breguet (IIRC) during that period.

No doubt many forces are at work here, but IMO part of it is simply that Omega feel like they should charge more, and can. Time will tell, I guess, but speaking as someone who couldn't have afforded an 8k Aqua Terra or 10k Speedmaster at the time I was entering the luxury watch market but can now -- they'd have lost me at the gateway, and I don't think I'd have come back around for another look.

Only three years ago you could get a 20% discount on a 5k Speedy. There's more distractions the higher you go.

With inflation and the hot watch market, none of this surprises me.

There isn't a massive waitlist for the 3861, but they're also not just sitting in stores anymore. At least here in NYC, the fifth avenue boutique doesnt have any in stock or on display, but they can order one for customers with relatively little wait.

What surprises me is that Rolex doesn't do the same.
OP still at 5800€ (if you can buy it, that's true).

Maybe cause they're privately owned and less worried about quarterly or annual revenue figures.

This argument is poor. UK prices go up.

Omega and Rolex are not ONGs.

Prices for the Speedy Pro have not changed in CHF so far.
