Absolutely love the lollipop and nato. Just not the bezel, larger logo and presumably the Spectre branded caseback b

@sarahgiuliiia,

Forget the requests for a case back picture, how about one which includes the top of the watch!

I don't get the "never before have one of the watches been available for purchase" line.

Didn't Bond just wear standard watches in all recent films, and so the watches worn in the film were actually easily available for purchase.

Thank you!!
I've been saying that all week!
No one else seems phased by that line...
I think it reflects the fact that it's a gadget in the movie...
This would be like being able to buy a SMP with a laser, or grappling hook etc...

But I would imagine that the spectre LE won't be able to to perform any gadgetry anyway ... Pity, my son can buy Spider-Man web shooters at ToysRus...

I think what they mean is that normally Bond wears a "normal" watch. Wether it has gadgets or not it appears identical to the retail units, and then a LE is made to "celebrate" ( read profit) the Bond movie with any number of modifications.

But this time Bond wears the modified version with the funky bezel and the lollipop second hand and the Nato. The gadget function aside it is the first time that the LE version is identical to the movie version ( or the other way around) so one can't say the smp300 mc is the bond watch and then there's a LE that's funky...in this case the Bond watch IS the LE.

Bad news for all the fan boys that bought the smp300 mc as a Bond watch and then the NATO only to find out they've been trumped. Now they "only" have 7007 chances of being Bond when they check the time....and all those girls at the office will no longer think they're a secret agent.

I feel so sorry.

Sergio - You're Awesome... This is hilarious, because its so bang on..

What I don't understand is the Omega Thought process... You're right, there's a lot of fanboys...myself included, who wanted to wear the bond watch... it was my foray into Omega...and look how that turned out for them...

What is really interesting is the fact that they would limit it to 7007... They must either really have faith in the SM300 selling itself.. or they see a cash grab, and hope to still cash in on ambiguity about the watch, or 7000 sales is huge for them... (I can't imagine that)...

Fact is... long after 'Spectre' is collecting dust in the $5 blu-ray bin at Walmart , the SM300 will still be a watch that stands on its own... like the SMP...the Spectre LE with the questionable bezel choice.. probably not as much...even less so if the movie doesn't live up to the hype...

I'm genuinely surprised that they chose to limit it to 7007, when the AT was 15007.... I was actually told by my boutique manager that if I wanted an AT LE, that I should pay in full , not just put a deposit, because it will sell out fast... I tried to stifle my laughter, and told her that I would take my chances....

Agreed!!

The SMP300 mc was already a great success before it was revealed as a Bond watch, it would just continue its trend way into the movie run and beyond. They're splitting the market.

I still think they could have just got a step further and make it a gmt ( and please everyone stop calling that a gmt bezel, it is not. A gmt bezel has 24 hours in it, unless there's a day/night identifier like some of the JLC watches)

THEN there.would be a justifiable variant launched in the movie.

Anyway; good times, good times.

Thanks @Traveler. By now most of us have figured out that Omega digitally creates these images...that they are not actual photographs. The case back image for this one is interesting because the balance spring for that caliber should be at 6 o'clock, not 12. I can see why they would rotate it 180 degrees since it does make the image look more interesting. By comparison, the Skyfall LE image below is oriented correctly...showing the more boring bridgework of the cal 8500...err...8507. Besides WIS nuts like us, I'm sure no-one will ever notice...

Anyway, this is all the excuse I need to update the Bond LE line-up below! YaY!!!

With regards to @Superdoc 's comment on the 7,007 qty, I've listed the LE quantities for each model below. This doesn't really answer the question of "why", but Omega now has a four movie-year pattern of having a more generic LE with higher qty 10,007 to 15,007 AND a more movie specific lower qty model of 5,007 and now 7,007. This year the SPECTRE AT seems to be playing the role of the higher volume more generic model (note that it does not say SPECTRE anywhere on it),while the SM 300 is the movie specific LE. I can only assume the increased quantities is because they sell every single one of these darn things. Hey, as long as they use some of the money to make cool new caliber innovations and other new models I DO like...I personally don't care how many of these they make/sell.

2002, 10,007 - 40 Years of Bond

2006, 10,007 - Rifling Dial
2006, 5,007 - Quantum of Solace

2008,10,007 - Collector's Piece
2008, 5,007 - Quantum of Solace, 5,007

2012,11,007 and 3.007 - 50th Anniversary 41 mm and 36.5 mm respectively
2012, 5,007 - Skyfall

2015, 15,007 - SPECTRE AT
2015, 7,007 - SPECTRE SM 300

For anyone who cares, I've made the following tweaks from the last version (besides the obvious new Skyfall back)
- Gave the 2226.80 the name "Rifling Dial" (it needed a name).
- Added the name Collector's Piece to the 2008 black enamel dial model since that's what it's called on the back.
- Edited to QOS back to line up horizontally (that one's a borrowed image, I can't find a clean Omega "back-mug" for it).
- Updated the 50th Anniversary 41mm back with a cleaner image.
- Updated the 50th Anniversary 36.5mm back with a borrowed image of an actual 36.5mm model.

If anyone wishes to help, I could still use a clean head-on case back image of the SPECTRE AT, the 36.5 mm 50th anniversary, and possibly a cleaner version of the QOS case back too.

YaY!

I think they missed it on this one since it looks like no one likes it as much as he/she likes the normal sm300..

Remember, though, that all who post on this and various other OMEGA forums are a niche group compared to the total number of OMEGA clientele.

These still comprise a small group compared to the total number of clients. Unless all active users on FB commented negatively about it...

Almost all did, however I can still see what you mean.

Next to my studies I worked at a high end fashion store. Some items where completely burned to the ground on fashion fora around the globe however they were items which sometimes sold the fastest..

I try to look at reactions to watches on forums, etc., analytically. For example, today I got a news update that read President Obama's disapproval rating among American's is 51% while his approval rating is 47%. "This is based on a random national sample of 1,001 adults." Really? I cannot understand how 1,001 adults represent the opinions of 325,494,113 American's.

Again, a small number compared to the vast majority that could(but probably not) like how he is handling things. For OMEGA, this LE could be a major win, or not. We shall see. I am not trying to start an issue on the forum. Merely, being honest about the reality of statistics.

Sure @Superdoc but at least you have a great Taylor and taste and certainly a collection that could finance the next 3 Bond movies.

I mean, we need a fan club just for people to follow your fan boy exploits.
