Might as well get my two bits in.

I've always thought that the non-LE version of this watch is one of the most attractive of Omega's contemporary offerings. If I didn't already have so many diving watches, I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat, and I'd put it on my wrist while SCUBA diving.

But then I read this, in write-ups about the Spectre LE "The watch features a bi-directional, rotating diving bezel..."

As a SCUBA diver, I can tell you that a "bi-directional, rotating diving bezel" is pure oxymoron. A bi-directional bezel on a diving watch is not only worthless, it's dangerous. And the the 0-11 numbering on the LE's bezel....what is that for??? I don't get it at all.

I'm appalled that a distinguished Royal Navy veteran like Commander Bond would wear such a silly watch.

Maybe it makes sense in context... Like it counts down to a bomb explosion or it times the time left for his manicure appointment... Or for his double soy half caf-half decaf mocachino to brew.

Or maybe it's to count how many condoms he has left in his holster. All important stuff

Bi-directional? Yikes. I much prefer the diving bezel anyways, I use it for everything from city parking to artichoke steaming. I think I've figured out the use of the 0-11 bezel: it is a Martini-Counter. I usually lose track after 3 or four so it would be fairly handy in that regard. My current technique of keeping the olive picks in my pocket has resulted in several spoiled shirts and trousers. Plus, when you are at a pool party, it can be downright hazardous with all the inflatables around.

I think it will blink only on the big screen!

Only in the movie my friend 😉
The bezel makes perfect sense for the movie. Also, you can obviously use the bezel for GMT which IMO is cool.
How, how can you use the bezel for GMT without 24 hour markers and/or a day/ night marker and a GMT hand?

Do people actually know how a GMT bezel works? And why do people insist on calling this a gmt bezel?

I'm also curious if that countdown is for seconds minutes or hours....I suppose if you're right the hands will move counter clockwise....which could be avoided of course if the same 5 turned red but the bezel stayed at 12/0 positioning. I understand it's all for movie magic and next to saws, magnets, lasers and hooks a countdown is a relatively weird and simple function to add when chrono watches exist already....but I assume the countdown is related to something else than time measurement like a trigger to something....or maybe it controls the MI6 microwave oven and helps heat his lunch to perfection.

The whole thing seems weird - may be it will all make sense after the film, but if Omega is pushing this as 'the same watch, for the first time!' etc. and then it's fundamentally different because the screen one is some weird red countdown gadget, then it doesn't add up... And if Bond really needs help counting down from five, then there are bigger issues at hand...

Think it's turn to 5 to arm then 60 second countdown

I already use my regular diving bezel as a makeshift second timezone. Not ideal of course but it works.

Wow... glad to see I could share something cool. Sorry to see you unravel at my suggestion of a GMT function. Perhaps flight bezels are completely different and I should get back to reading. My apologies
Not at all sorry of I came out strong. Font mean Yo diminish your post. It just drives me crazy that they can pull a half assed idea and then have us( the users) justify their choices.

I guess I can see how you can set the 0 as 12 and rotate as needed, but it's not a gmt function of you can't tell if it's 5 pm or 5 am on whatever timezone you are recalling, otherwise it's telling you two timezones at once. Can you think it through? Sure, but then again so can anyone dona quick calculator without a watch.

I would much prefer one of the regular production versions of this watch. The titanium with the blue dial is the best looking to me. I actually like the vintage styling and colouring. The one thing I WOULD want on the Spectre watch is that lollipop seconds hand. Does anyone have any experience with AD service dept's or with authorised independents? Would it be possible to bribe or cajole someone into putting one of those lolllpop seconds hands put on a normal production Seamaster 300 Co-axial? If so, it might set off my "Imminent Irresponsible Purchase Alert"!

I went into my local boutique last weekend to ask that very question. Unfortunately they said definitely not.
I think the only way would be to try and source one yourself and have an independent watchmaker fit it.

Yeah, I assumed based on past experience with Omega service in NYC that it would be a no go. I wonder though, if an independent with an Omega parts acct could get hold of one at some point. That would be a killer looking watch. Maybe in a year or so after the movie has left the theatres and the fuss over the LE unveiling has faded a bit.

Hi Guys,

Nice to read all these comments on this new Bond 300. I must admit i like it very much. I agree that the bezel looks weird, but let's be clear (risk to disappoint some Bond's fans) : James Bond doesn't exist. Most of his gadget do not exist. Even the new Aston Martin is Spectre doesn't exist IRL. And most of what this guy is doing to catch up the bad guys is impossible to do without killing yourself at least 1000 times !

So why not having a watch which - for the 1st time - has a "functionality" which ... doesn't exist (or only in the movie). For me that's cool.

I love vintage and new Omegas, and like you, I like when it's spot on, useful, etc ...

But, at least for this time, let's have fun and go back in childhood. Yes, I'd love to wear the same Seamaster as James. I know, it might look stupid, but I assume. I like this idea.

Yes, it's not a GMT. Yes the 0/11 bezel looks strange, yes that's exactly the reason why it's a cool and fun piece.

My disappointment : if I would have been Omega marketing / designer, I would have put the "real" bond Nato (black burgundy, green) on this one. Rolex fan would probably insult me to write this, but it should have been so fun.

By the way, I just bought a bond NATO ... 😉

Let's be kid and have fun !!!

Congrats on the NATO. They get more wrist time than the bracelet on my watch.

Spy You might be surprised at what did exist.
