Just saw this on WatchProSite. I’m amazed at the expertise of Omega to provide Special Edtions with aplomb!
The watches are limited edition of 250 and are made at the request of the RAID force (equivalent of SWAT) of France by Omega. Few may be available for sale.
It comes with a bracelet, a nato and a black leather strap with Speedmaster medallion.

Actually I believe they rather are a custom assembly by a French boutique Antoine De Macedo who got some custom parts from Omega to make it happen ;)

At least one of them was already on sale on Chrono24 :)

Whats your take on such models? How they fare vis-à-vis the brand and value, Sir.

Difficult question. My take on this is that I don't want one. Even if it's cheap.

I think one has to have a personal link with french SWAT in order to value this watch different than an altered/customized Moonwatch.
I have no affect to the RAID, nor do I for France at large so I don't need/want that watch. Hence would value it lower than a regular Moonwatch.

To me it's a bit like the Hackett Speedmaster, or the Black Venom Speedmasters or the Moontime custom Flower Power stuff. Useless.

But it's only my point of view and I understand and respect those who like it and do value it differently. :)

i thought it to be a commemorative watch where the caseback even lacks the seahorse logo. yeah, it's more of lack of personal touch and connection on the theme to watch enthusiasts. my 2 cents.

The project was indeed initiated at Antoine de Macedo in Paris. I was told that the original project was a bit more ambitious than just coloured small hands, a coloured second hand and a plain back. I also was told that the idea was to have a different strap from the coloured Nato (one cannot imagine special forces wearing that on the field).

If this had a rotating countdown bezel it would be very interesting, but, please, not the coloured hands.

I prefer to SWAT-CH rather than use RAID. More environmentally friendly.

[IMG] Does the Raid 1 Edition include two identical watches in one presentation box?

That would be the “Air Raid” Edition! Hahaha!
I like it. I am glad they chose to honour these officers...it’s a tough gig!

So a regular Speedy with coloured hands. Wonder how much this one is going for ::bleh::. The production quantity being actually limited (not the >5000 pieces norm) is the only good thing this has going for it.

In my view, unless you are a french LEO, wearing this watch would seem... pretentious.

eh, no more pretentious than a non-astronaut wearing a regular Speedy or someone that doesn't know how to swim wear a "Seamaster"

Actually looks way better in the metal than on images. Still not for me.

It honestly looks nice in person. The differences are subtle but work to give an interesting overall impression.
The little touch that I like, the French flag on the chronometer hand.

Looks perfect for someone actually in RAID.

But then I suppose these folks don't have the budget for such a watch.
